So yeah, i decided to blog again, but this time it's going to be mainly focused on games.
Is it just me or does it feel like most games these days are being rushed? The reason being for me to ask you this question is that most games released nowadays does not feel like finished products. I don't wish to bash any gameseries but lets look at the popular game franchise Call of duty. As most of you know in 2010 activision released the highly anticipated game Call of duty Black ops. and it wasn't necceserily a bad game but it was this one thing that bothered me. And that is that the game was practically released unfinished. There was lag in every single game lobby, the pc version could barely even be downloaded and the ps3 version was incrdibly laggy as well. This issue took the company activision months to fix. My question to them is really? is that how you threat your customers? you release a version of a game that is almost unplayable and a game that requiries several patches to even be playable?
I mean i get it. you obviousely want to release your game on time so that you do not dissapoint your customers. But i think most companies in general should not release a game that is not finished. If you truly wish to succeed then you should probably alteast polish it first
If you look at smaller and less popular games like metro 2033 (Awesome game btw) games like this is in general not released before it's ready. And that's awesome, because that means that when it's released it's Perfect. I also do not like that the campaign in most games are so short. This is also an issue related to the release rush. I dont care if it takes 3 years or 6 years. Just take your time, make a good story, a lag free multiplayer, and last but not least an enjoyable game.
Before i wrap this post up i just wanted to say that Call of duty is a highly likeable franchise. And there are positive things that activision does but i wanted to express my opinion and/or concern about the general game marketplace.

Black ops being the last CoD i actually played fully (And enjoyed) i dont remember it having such glaring issues. It had the steam unlock problem, which happened with just about every big release back then, which wasnt really a game fault.
I remember there being some talk of lag for a couple of weeks max after release but nothing huge, it never affected me anyway.
But, your blog is largely pointless as 98% of the community agree's and voices this opinion very very vocally, games are rushed and babified for the masses, its nothing new.

Yeah, they are. Also the game is sold with 80% of its content, and the final 20% is released as DLC with an additional $20-$40 price tag.
It's one of the big reasons I've stopped buying games.

The worst part is that games can be in the works for well over 6 years (on an extremely high budget) and yet when they are finally released they are still far from finished...
No, of course I'm not talking about any specific games, why would I...

No, of course I'm not talking about any specific games, why would I... No, instead you are talking about pretty much every game.

There were just as many unfinished or unpolished games released 20 years ago as there are now, we've all just forgotten about them. They were the main reason that the console companies had to start licensing games that could be played on them after the console crash. Yea, rushed games suck, but it been happening since before I was alive.

No, of course I'm not talking about any specific games, why would I... And to think Cave Story was made by a single man during his free time in 5 years.

Just don't buy rushed games, let the market do its work.
I buy plenty of well made indie games that I enjoy far more than most of the mainstream crap released these days.

i dont necessarily think DLC is indicative of a game being rushed or incomplete per say. they are indicative of a company making a calculation that their intended market will pay for these things, and they seem to be correct in this.
the solution is what you say though, stop supporting it and perhaps it will change

It also kinda forces you to wait a while after release before making your purchase decision since you won't get the full story beforehand. Ideally we will do what you suggest but realistically these companies have the upper hand.

That's why I like buying/playing indie games, they're cheaper and sometimes they're really fun! Most of the mainstream games use the same game mechanics anyway so not missing out on much.
