My Core training continues, no insane gains today but I'm learning to integrate more complex hotkey combinations and still retain something fairly close to my old APM. I'm starting to get better at
The practice advice giving for TheCore seems very disjointed. The "phases" that they list out on the site are the phases you encounter when you are researching a new something for the first time, not learning a skill. After my initial day of fumbling around myself. I realized that TheCore is missing an important piece for it's wider adoption, namely a training system.
So I decided to start that by building a set of TheCore Katas that I will be building and using as I learn TheCore. I'm going to start out with Protoss related katas as that's the race I'm learning TheCore for. If there is any interest from other, we perhaps could collaborate and create a definitive set of katas.

For practicing these I recommend the map that you get by searching for "Pibb building hotkey" in the arcade. It deletes the buildings right away so there is no clutter, It gives you a random building and tells you the score along with how long it took you to issue the command sequence. I did the katas along with a round of random test kata training for each level.
Obviously this is just a start of what you can do. For example, the advanced training could have hotkeyed a pylon to clear out the probe selection. I also like to do the advanced build and try to get my vision back at the proxy before the building starts. I think finding ways to keep it fun is important.
I'll be posting more Katas as I develop them. Please share any here that you think are important. Obviously I'll be moving on to unit production Katas and Battle Micro Katas, along with Katas that include hotkeys (my katas are designed to take the "remove building" feature of Pibb into account but other unit trainers don't have that issue. And with the basic Katas, I can build up multi-type Katas to simulate fighting and macroing at the same time. If we make enough Katas, perhaps we can reformat them into a full guide and lesson.
That's it for today. It still feels hard but the Katas provide some real sense of accomplishment to the learning process. Thanks for reading!
