I have had this problem all throughout my SC play that when I'm somewhere near my skill level I periodically just go on sick tilt and lose to players/stratagies that I just should not lose against for a long, long time. Then when I get out of the slump, I'm against players that aren't anywhere near my mechanics level and I just plow through huge win streaks until I'm around my skill level again and inevitably i'll go on a sick lose streak again.
When I took a break for 6 months-1 year in SC because of computer problems/real world troubles, when I came back I gave my main account to my friend and bought a new account and worked it up. When I got around low master again, I started going on these sick losing streaks again. I play zerg and I think a lot of my problem comes with frustrations of dealing with decently executed allins and late game super armies (I refuse to use BL infestor because I don't have fun playing it). I'll start to play sloppy and eventually I can't concentrate at all and I'll lose to anything and everything.
I've tried a lot of ways to stop this cycle (stop after 3 losses in a row, play another game, come back later is one of the ways a lot of people told me to go) and it just gets to the point where I can't actually play SC for a long time if I stop playing when I'm on these streaks.
I kind of feel like switching races just because I am so frustrated with this cycle (it gets to the point where I play like 10 games or so with people who can give me a decent game until I go on these losing streaks and then after I'm done losing I have no satisfying games until I win 50 or so more really unchalanging games). It's not that I don't like zerg; in many ways I think zerg is the only race I really like playing; but I just can't deal with the way you are kind of forced to play at a certain point.
I'm looking for some imput as to what I should play. I really like zerg because of all the really fast movements and decisions you make. Zergling backstabs, roach multipronged attacks and muta harass are my favorite things to do in SC. I like the challenging mechanical aspect of zerg too. I've played and sort of enjoy terran and protoss, but their mirror matchups are so dreadful from my experience that I can't really get into it. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks TL

It doesn't matter. Get better with all races.

Just practice and go with the race you feel more comfortable. I played Z on WoL, and will probably switch to P. Just feel more comfortable with P now, dunno why.

I started Terran in 2010, switched to zerg by the end of 2011, played all of 2012 as zerg and now I'm in the Hots beta as terran and it is the best decision I've ever made in SC2.. I don't know how the hell I ever thought playing zerg was right fort me. I'm having the most fun since I got the game in 2010. Switching races periodically helps renew interest in the game.

I really wish I could off some really helpful advice here, as I have had very similar experiences multiple times. At this point, I don't even bother with ladder anymore because even though I win / won most of my games when I went on, I wasn't really having a ton of fun with them. As a random player, every time I rolled zerg I absolutely refused to straight tech to BroodLord Infestor and instead had a more aggresive Ling Infestor -> Ultra midgame. That was how I liked to play, and when I was playing consistently on ladder I was pretty good at it (for my diamond scrub league.)
When it came to the point where ladder melee was more of a chore than a form of entertainment and enjoyment, I almost gave up SC2. But instead, the HUGE expanse of custom games and the awesome casters and streamers (Husky, Day9, Psy, Avilo, WhiteRa, etc) kept me interested long enough to revive some semblance of a spark.
At this point, I still don't play the ladder (almost at all at this point), but now I find some enjoyment in trying to create a better game with the mods OneGoal and StarBow (check there chat channels for players. Same names for each channel, better pool on weekends. Also check their respective threads on the TL Custom Maps section) I still fool around with The Star Strikers and Hero Attack as well. That's how I get on with my emptiness from the Blizzard ladder.
If your commited to giving blizzard zerg a shot: The viper promises to offer a LOT of mid-late game aggresion with combos such as Roach Hydra Viper, Ling Bling Muta Viper, etc. I will give blizzard a ton of credit for that one; the Viper is definitely the most impressive addition to the game and has the potential to open up a LOT of options away from the zerg mech: ball of BroodLord Infestor =_____=. Unless they nerf it into the ground, which is still possible

It's a tough call man, but if you're in low masters I certainly wouldn't say you're "doing something wrong". Perhaps to get out of the rut you simply need to try out a different race, play for a bit to get a feel for it, and if you like it you can stick with it. If you don't like the new race, try the remaining one, or return to zerg, your experience with the new race may give you a better perspective when being matched against it.
It also may be nice come HotS to do some unranked matches as an off-race. It will be mechanically demanding in a different way, without the added pressure of ladder rank. I find that it helps me to do some custom games (1v1 Peepmode is a particular favorite for me) to get my head and hands in the right frame of mind, and then hit the ladder.
Look on the bright side: there's going to be awesome new stuff to play around with in the expansion, regardless of your race! And you're low masters, you're a hero to a plat like me

Play Random, have fun (: Unraked!

Yea I am in the same situation. I even just had a the same exact problem of most games tending to go to the late game and needing to use Infestor/BLs. I had a 5 loss streak just tonite too, oh man im bitter!
All in all I'm looking forward to the viper, I can see it bringing a lot of diversity into late game zerg army compositions.

I go on like 50 game lose streaks and go down like 2-3 leagues

SC race chooses you. Maybe zerg didn't choose you...

Oh man just kidding i maybe have went too far. But anyways Id probably be going down a league if i kept it up at this pace though it was rough tonite I tells you!!!

I was a protoss player in WOL and now for HOTS I am playing random until I find a race that works best for me. I am having a lot of fun doing it while relearning some parts of the game from the aspect of the other races. Maybe you should try that out? Good luck mate.

If you aren't willing to do the best strategies available for a race, for whatever reason, you should probably switch races.
That said, BL/infestor isn't nearly as strong in HotS so you might enjoy zerg. I wouldn't limit yourself to what strategies you are allowed to do.

Honestly, just play for fun. Whatever race you most enjoy the playstyle of..

Play Random until you know what you want. I played P casually and Z as my main in WoL but I'm finding myself beating top 8 masters with Protoss now that PvP isn't so enigmatic to me. It's a lot of fun and I might make the switch but I feel The Swarm within.

Like I said, it's zerg, but I either go on these sick losing streaks then have a whole bunch of free wins (read: not fun at all; winning or losing)

I'm pretty much on the same boat, except that i'm losing against a specific race where I just don't know what the fuk I should do anymore (ZvP). It's been like this for 2 years... It's really getting on my nerves. I get so fucking pissed in losing every ZvP that i don't get any enjoyments at all when winning against terran or zerg, or even protoss when they're starting to get low ranked thanks to the losing streak (I'm master since WoL's beta). Tried playing random on HOTS beta, but it's also the same feeling (losing to stupid shits, or not being concentrated at all when in fact it was an important time etc., etc.). I guess, it's time to play another race and masterize it, even though you might get mad at some points. But at least, I hope, you won't be as mad as you would be with your main race...
Hang in there buddy...

Try Terran? I tried terran after maining protoss and the first thing I noticed is... THE MULTITASK. Dear god I had sore wrists just from play a couple of 15 min. games. I love how terrans aren't necessarily pidgeonholed into the same 5 min. as toss often is in PvZ and PvT. Well maybe not TvZ, but I feel like TvP terrans don't abuse greedy toss play anymore like they should. I don't know, just trying a new race out gives new perspective on the matchups and the game itself and freshens things up.
You don't have to switch for good you know.. You can take your new experiences and lessons and go back to playing Z again.

Whenever I get in that slump, I just play every match up in a different style and practice a different all-in in ZvZ.
