Recap:
Well, I am now #1 of the Meinhoff Iota bronze division with 521 points. Also managed to be 5-1 today (10-1 since I hit level 5) only attack moving to the back of their base. In fact the only game I lost today was against a terran who did a doom drop on me with 4 full medivacs (one full of tanks) at my mineral line as I moved out to attack him... bad timing, well, not for him.
As far as my staircase progress (the part that matters) I had an average SQ of 79.71 today, so it was low. I ran into some things that gave me trouble, such as early harassment, or maxing out my army against a guy who refused to give up and chasing him around the map. That game was hilarious actually, the guy cannon rushed me and I held it off without his 3 cannons killing a single guy of mine and then he built a cannon wall at his natural which I kept chipping away at and he'd replace... so he spent ALL of his minerals on cannons and didn't even make a warpgate until [b]12[/b] minutes in! Which I almost immediately destroyed, I think all game he only made 1 zealot it was just me running over and killing his cannons over and over while I expanded and built up a big army he couldn't handle.
So I'm still working on optimizing my resource usage on my MMM build I've been doing. It's funny now that I understand SQ and how money should be used I see how my old build REALLY fizzled out at around 10 minutes. I used to have so much money it's crazy, now that I don't have that huge trust fund I'm getting a lot more units out. Also after I went through and tested how many workers it takes mining gas to have constant production of things I am optimizing my gas a lot more. I wasn't mining nearly enough gas before for what I was trying to do so while I wanted to make 3 tanks at a time I never had enough gas and my money would skyrocket waiting for gas. Now that I know what I need and exactly how expensive it is to make these tech units I'm getting larger armies and keeping my gas and money lower than I was before.
Goal Check:
Well, it's been a week since I set my goals. I think it was actually a week yesterday but didn't want to make two blogs in one day. So my goal was to play 20 games, in the last 6 days I've played 38 ladder games, so that's a definite success on my 1 week goal. It was an easy goal to achieve, but it's still always good to reach benchmarks you set for yourself. Next is my 2 week goal of getting a consistent third base. I'm not quite there yet, but definitely making progress towards it (I at least know where I want to put my third on most ladder maps).
