I work for (nationally) large ISP, and I've worked in or around the internet for 15 years. I've also been involved as a player/organiser/techie/interested spectator in esports since 1996. I'm writing a "popular science" type book on the technology and history of the internet.
As one of the many things I'm doing to help find good material, I want to answer (almost) any question on how the internet works.
* I won't answer anything that is just a straight up tech support question.
* I won't answer anything specifically about how my company, or any particular company I have worked for, implements things.
* I've been doing this for a long time, but nobody knows everything. If I don't know, I'll either point you in the right direction or just admit I don't know.
* Cats are vital for the development of the internet, but the internet (thankfully) is not made from cats. Cat herding is what you need to do when running gaming tournaments, and that stuff is HARD.
