Hi TeamLiquid! I'm Frieza and I am a diamond league terran player. I love starcraft 2 but recently I've really hit a wall with my terran and i cant figure out how to improve.
I normally can just shake these things off and move on but I hit an 11 loss streak and I couldn't figure anything out. I felt as though I was going to fall back to platinum and I got very frustrated. I thought long and hard about how Protoss requires much less skill than Terran as a race in general. I look at pro matches where the average pro Terran player has far more APM than the average Protoss player.
From this I've started to move towards Protoss play but at the same time I just don't enjoy it. I found so much joy in destroying armies with Terran that i just don't find by A-moving a Collosus death ball. I'm not really trying to bash protoss here, their mechanics are different and hard in their own way, i just find that easier.
Do you guys suggest that I stick with Terran because I have more fun with it? I feel as though I'm really hitting a wall but I would hate to fall back into the platinum league. What do you guys think? Any feedback is appreciated!

It's a game. If you're playing for fun, play the race you find fun. If you're going pro, play the race that suits you the best.
"the average pro Terran player has far more APM than the average Protoss player", "A-moving a Collosus death ball" -> these statements aren't actually true btw.

Definitely stick with whatever is most fun. Either that, or adapt your playstyle with Protoss to make it more fun. I'm play P and wholly agree that just getting colo/sentry/stalker and pushing is boring, so I find ways to make it more interesting with lots of multi prong aggression with Prisms/blink stalkers/DTs.
The easiest way to play Protoss is also the most boring way! I try to be like a shitty high Masters league version of Hero, and that makes the game a lot more fun for me

APM isn't always skill. By your logic, Zerg is much more difficult to play than Terran and vastly more difficult to play than Protoss. Also, Brood War is infinitely more difficult than SC2.
So you've really solved things for yourself. In terms of ease: SC2>BW Protoss>Terran>Zerg
You're awfully wrong but if you think Protoss is easier then play Protoss and stop bitching about it.

Sorry if i came off that way, I'm not trying to bash protoss i just find that its easier to play for me than terran. I just wanted to express that i'm bored with protoss but find it very easy to learn.

I'd say to stick to what you know, and make it more fun by discovering new playstyles, trying different builds and work on your micro with custom game micro trainers. I'd even go so far as to recommend getting some coaching if you feel its necessary. Best of luck to you, Terran fighting!

The APM thing has been my experience through watching matches, i'm sorry if its not a wholly true statement. The deathball a-move was basically referencing that you need more APM during engagements as terran. Maybe at the level players like Hero play at that is incorrect but for most things below it, it seems to be true.
Anyway, thanks for the advice!

All i see is whine whine whine.
Anyways, you said losing with terran is more fun than protoss so i don't see why you would even play protoss unless you'd rather win then have fun.

kekekekekeke terran is good just need to practice a lot............................... but if you think you really hit wall then you ain't trying hard enough son......

From your whining, it doesn't sound like you have more fun with it. It sounds like you think it's the hardest race to play and requires more skill than Protoss, so you play it because you feel superior when playing it.
Do whatever you want, but you should enjoy the game and recognize that a win's a win. Don't blame the race or your opponent if you lose. gl hf

Ya well terran can be troublesome to play some time.

Probe1, if he won't dare to call-out and diss Protoss, sorry bro but I will. TvP is fucked up unfair shit, even in SC2.
/Frustrated_Low_Level_Terran_YES On a simplistic level, P dictates the flow of the match by being solid at first, meaning they can be economically agressive. Their army upgrades come out super quick, plus attack and armour apply to their entire ground army (which is about as fair as Zerg's air upgrades being covered by Evo ones). The units are more expensive, thus fewer in number, therefore easier to control and handle. With Feedback being as powerful as it is, you never need to split up your army, and for the most parts engagemtns are '1a, spell spell spell, move Colosus back, win' compared to '[spell] split split split dodge split, stim, 1a, grab split grab split, move 1a, dance Vikings retreat retreat, bm, leave game'.
But Lord_Fireza, don't loose heart! /Frustrated_Low_Level_Terran_NO You won't be satisfied by switching to the easier race. Sure, you'll win ladder points, but you're paying for those with pride and honour, and the tears of your Terran heart will drain and drown out the menial fun you may think you're experiencing! Stick with it! I know exactly how you feel, that this shit feels so unfair sometimes, and you just wish there could be an equitable skill-effort-results relation. But there's not, TvP is hard shit, so when you work your way practicing it, you won't feel it at first, as you'll probably loose, or not appreciate your only TvP wins since they only happend because the player is much worse than you, but gradually you can get to a higher point where you can win a decent ammount of TvP games. And then lol as you get to higher levels and they gay you to death, but that's life. When you're on bit loss-streaks, its best to not let it get to you too much, but rather take a break, examine your replays, practice an agressive build that cuts out late-game unfairness, and go into your next match having learnt from your losses. Also, take a break from playing altogether and look at cute pictures of animals, or coold Future SciFi architecture (:

didn't you see what terran gets in hots? Mech looks pretty powerful man. I would wait a little until after you try it out to make a final decision

You're going to find it very hard to improve if every time you lose you say "well I'm better but he was protoss/zerg".
I'd advise not switching races OR playing terran until you discover that balance is not useful to consider A) at your skill level or B) in your enjoyment of the game.
As someone said, unless you're playing to go pro or aiming for a promotion at least (small steps towards improvement) then it doesn't really matter if you win or lose. Also the leagues aren't truly accurate.
How long have you been diamond? How much have you played IN diamond? Perhaps you just haven't improved at the same rate as the average user and therefore SHOULD be in platinum, and then you'll get your 50% winrate that you seem to want.
You have to play better opponents to improve, so the more you lose the more you should be improving if you watch replays and find out what you can do. Making these posts is mostly a pointless use of time.

Consider that each race has different things to do, requiring different amounts of APM - it's not a question of 'press buttons as fast as you can'.
Anyways, I'd stick with it, but find some new builds to try to keep things interesting.

Haha thanks for the feedback man! It makes me want to stick with terran again. I think ive decided that losing is better than switching because its easier. :D
