It is with great regret that I heard of the recent passing of Alexander Cockburn, the driving force behind the blog. Over the years I've greatly enjoyed his often outrageous articles even though I often did not agree with his point of view. I read quite a bit on politics, and in my opinion Alexander Cockburn was one of the best contemporary political writers in the English language, surpassed only by George Orwell. Hitchens is nowhere.
And as someone who's first language is not English I can also say that I learned a lot about writing from his articles.
Cockburn's incendiary rants will be greatly missed. Anybody interested in a different take on politics and current affairs should check out Counterpunch.
