For all you StarCraft 2 players, Blizzard has released the SC2 heart of the swarm beta. This is a private beta though and the only way to get a chance at playing the game is you need to enter this contest. If you want to get into the action, playing the Rate the Game beta contest is easy. First, visit your account management page, download and install the Arcade (1.5.0) Beta product you see in the game accounts section, then hop into the Arcade to play. To enter the contest, all you have to do is play, rate, and review an Arcade game. The first time you rate and review a new game each day the contest is running gives you another chance to win, so it pays to visit every day until the contest ends. At the end of the contest period we’ll randomly choose 250 eligible contestants to win StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm beta keys! What really bothers me is this Beta is supposed to last 3-5 months! Like what is this, only 250 people have a chance to win this beta key. While thousands of other players can't play the beta and will have to play another season on the ladder. Don't get me wrong, but another season on the ladder won't hurt me. But it may hurt the SC2 community a little bit as people are eager and waiting for Heart of The Swarm to come out. I think Blizzard needs to give away 750 Beta keys to the Non-Pro players. you need to get the Non-Pro players more engaged in the community. Then give out 750 to all the Pro-Players, because the pro players wont play the beta a lot as they still have to practice and ladder.

I really do think its nice that the beta is finally here, and that 250 lucky players will get a chance at playing the beta. My next article will be the next Wednesday.

Blizzard Beta means Alpha, and Blizzard release means Beta.
EDIT: I assume this means that:
Blizzard Development means Alpha Blizzard Brainstorming means Development
And, assuming a loop:
Blizzard Release means Brainstorming

I think non-pro players that aren't at least high masters usually have uninformed feedback and aren't a reliable source of information for a game that is geared for competitive play, no?

Yes, I'm a gold player who does a lot of casting, I wouldn't mind getting an invite to give feedback. Some people noobs can give good feedback becuase they will try to be a better caster to make up for lack of skill.

? A: the beta isn't actually released yet, not until at least mlg anaheim, and B: I doubt that this one contest giveaway will be the only way to get a key.
|
This seems like a relatively uninformed post >.>

3-5 months sounds perfect actually. Tons of time to test and balance. Though your plain wrong on the 250 to 750 beta testers. I mean that extra 400 people, out of the millions that play(?), won't make a difference at all.

if they want caster feedback there are already the big name casters as well as a dozen or two established amateur casters that are at least decently recognized through playhem.

What topic would you guys want me to write about next week?

They do need to send out more beta codes. 250 is a shitty number

Nothing says that they won't release more beta versions to people from an pre selected crowd of people, such as pro players and so forth. It's just a way for Blizzard to convince more people to test the arcade version lol.

I'm pretty sure most progamers will be invited to play HotS beta immediately. Then the beta will open more and more to make sure it works decently for casuals as well.

I've always wondered how this even works though, sure Blizzard probably have the details for a few of them but surely they don't just have an "All-Progamers" mailing group on their email server
What's the process for a pro gamer to get in? I just ask out of curiosity really. They surely don't email Blizzard "no it's me, fruitdealer, honest" ?
