[Travel] Mexico (Yucatan Peninsula) 2010

For Christmas in 2010, my girlfriend and I decided to go to Cancun for a week. She was interested in the beaches, and I wanted to see Chichen Itza. Thus, began our Mexican adventure.

First, a few hotel pictures.

Then, Chichen Itza for me. Chichen Itza is a famous Mayan ruin to the west of Cancun.

El Castillo

A cenote (deep natural pit; their source for fresh water).

Sacrificial Altar, including an eagle eating a human heart.

The ball court.

Then Xel-Ha for some fun. Xel-Ha is a huge inlet thats about the size of 10 football fields. It is for alcohol and snorkeling. A must-go if you go to the Cancun area. They had manatees, tons of fish, sting rays, etc.

Then another Mayan ruin, Tulum, which is along the coast.

Finally, a big ass mango daiquri.

After Cancun, my girlfriend went to Japan to visit her friends/family, and I went to Brazil and Argentina with my friends. Alas, that is another blog.

Hablas mucho español? He estudiado por más o menos 6 años pero nunca he visitado un país hispanohablante. Tengo mucho celos por ti.
I really want to go to south america but living in CA the easy option would be going to mexico but everyone is always telling me how sketchy it is right now... I think my passport is expired anyways.

On a side note, your girlfriend is so much cuter than you lol :p

Excellent, i do love chichen itza, i prefer tulum, and palenque, glad you and your gf liked our country

I can count to 10 and say cuanto cuesta. when they give me a price that is higher than 10, i negotiate until they get into a price range i can understand. ;-)

yes, she is more attractive than me. aim high my young padawan.

i wanted to visit palenque, but it was out of the way for such a short trip. maybe next time. tulum was pretty cool, but a little underwhelming because we visited it the day after chichen itza.
