DA 2 is shit. so disappointing after DA Origins
|
Prepare for disappointment. If it's any consolation though, the first 1/3rd of the game is relatively fun and compelling, but after that it just kinda drags out and you probably won't give a shit. I think the biggest flaw is that you're confined to more or less the exact same setting throughout the entire game. DA:O was so cool because the world felt a lot bigger and the settings were quite diverse.
Also I felt like the warrior class was by far the most powerful. Almost every encounter is just multiple waves of enemies and the warrior has really good aoe abilities with 2h.

Combat system was still good, the rest of the game was pretty awful. Kind of made me sad considering DA:O was quite good.

Not to mention the fact that the areas are just reused so much thoughout the game with no effort into hiding it. I wouldnt even say the game is worth 5$

It's a good game if you don't compare it to the first one. The controls are good. It is really good game design. Intense reuse of location is like criticizing a boardgame to be repetitive because of the same board. This game leaves more to imagination. Also some plot mechanics are really well done.
Truely something you want to play through if you are interested in game design. If you are an hardcore gamer who wants a 80 hours of play and a perfect arching story then try something else.

Dragon age 2 is a good game, but no where near as good as Dragon age origins.
I hate it when people tell the game is awful and horrible and bad and so on while in truth its a good quallity game. Its just that people who played DA;O expected it to be just as good or even better and i dont blame them. A company which produces games should strive to improve it in every single possible way yet they just dumbed it down.

Yeah I've heard all the bad things about it already, I plan to play both over the summer when I actually have lots of time to enjoy RPGs. Since I've heard a lot of bad things about it I won't force myself through DA2 if it's not very good.

i still found dragon age 2 enjoyable, even after playing origins

Its a good game if you want to pass time but its nothing special. Being a pretty short RPG you dont feel like your investing a lot of time for nothing. Definatly worth getting if you can get it for cheap, you'll have lots of fun and not feel as bad about spending money when you go through some of the worse parts.

I loved DA:O. I want my warden and Morrigan back....

Prepare to be disappointed. It's the first real foreshadowing of what was to come from the Bioware/EA hybrid abomination.

Didn't even complete DA2, got to the last event and just noticed that... i dont care. The characters were shallow and uncompelling with a not so great story. Writing both story and dialogue wise was just terrible compared to DA:O.
I do like that they spiced the gameplay up a bit, combat mainly but it was a bit over the top. My rogue hawke bouncing around like a damn superman ninja all the time felt a bit... over the top.
The main gripes i had apart from storytelling are ofcourse the insane reuse of areas, very bland areas at that where you could not identify where u were since the entire dungeon looked the same. But also the ridicule they made towards gearing, gear and gear choices were a pretty important part of DA:O but they butchered that in DA2, on top of it items were raining down from the sky devaluing any form of quest to get a weapon or crafting(was there even crafting/crafting quest?) vs in DA:O you worked for a weapon and you felt its new power and that hard work felt goood.
Overall DA2 is a good timekiller but a rushed product made to capitalize on DA:O's success to get Bioware some money, probably sunk into the SW mmo. It's easily worth 10$ for the entertainment it gives but, it gets very old after a few hours with a whining elf and a dumb, emo, whining, love sick tank.

Bundling it with DA:O is a pretty bad move. Now people will both and see how badly the second one compares.

Hated both of them they both felt so boring and the combat system lacking etc.

Dragon Age 2 is full of craps. It's really sad because Dragon Age Origins is the best fantasy RPG I have ever played They ruined DA series in the name of profit.
