Call them or sent them an email.\
Explain how you didn't know about the offer and would like to have it refunded.
Be very firm and hint at how you are very interested in being a continued customer, but that customer service is very important to you and you would hate to see this sour your view of the company.
Companies like this live off return customers. They will more often than not jump through hoops if you make it clear that you are likely to stop using their services due to poor customer service.
You would be surprised how some companies will jump through hoops to give you whatever you ask for. Cable companies are another.

I agree with poster above.. It's worth a shot to try to get ahold of them.. If they are running this special, they can't be that sour about losing a bit of money for a purchase.. they should be happier just getting a new customer.

How come I get the sense your the type of person who, when playing zvp, sees that the p didn't wall off and thinks "I should have just 6 pooled"?

I would say call instead of email. When you call you can make your sincerity about being a continued customer more clear, and plus you can ask to have the call escalated to a manager or supervisor if your not getting anywhere.
I do love the fact that the ad has a guy double facepalming though, seems appropriate lol.
$90 still isn't bad. Is that just website hosting, or is it a full virtualized server?

You could tell them you meant to do the offer and thought it would automatically applied.

Calling them really can't hurt at all.

They are trolling you. When you bought your contract, they put a Google Ads cookie on your computer. The 50% off ad only appear when you have this cookie.
Just kidding. Don't you have a retraction right ? I thought companies were legally forced to give a retraction period for every online purchase. When you call them, make sure you mention this, and say that if they don't give you the discount retroactively, you are going to use your retraction right and buy a new contract with the discount, so they may as well give you the discount now.
That's what I did with Orange when they made a 100 euros off the package I had just purchased, and it worked.

This is what I would do lol. Make it seem like you thought you were signing up through the offer but got confused and it was just a huge misunderstanding.

I tried contacting them today, they said the billing department is unavailable until tomorrow morning so I'm going to try then. I will keep everyone posted.

I really appreciate the insight. Upon more thought on the subject, it would seem beneficial for them to work something out with me. I guess from a PR standpoint it would be good for people to know that they are the kind of company willing to work things out with their customers, despite the fine print :p

And as for your last question, I'm not really sure. I think it is a fully virtualized server, but then again I don't really know :p
If anyone is trying to buy some web hosting, I would recommend this. I bought some hosting years back ago, and after reading what you get with this site, its amazing how much cheaper everything is, and you get unlimited storage, bandwidth, plenty of SQL databases - which is probably what most people would be looking for in terms of webhosting.
i'll let you guys know after i talk to them tomorrow - if they are able to work something out, i would DEFINITELY recommend them. Hell, even if they don't, i still would - their packages are amazing and affordable.

It's not luck. Google ads work like that.
