Suggestions/Opinions on Band music needed

MaximusT United States126 Posts April 04 2012 15:11 GMT #1 Good day TLers. I hope you are well. So the time has come where I need to ask for your suggestions. I'm in need of a "pop" piece of music that I can have my symphonic band play on our May concert. I've ruled out Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, and LotR soundtracks. Anyone know of any cool concert band songs that I could have the kids play? Also, I have to keep in mind that I have a couple students who are super religious and can't play a bunch of stuff (for some reason. I don't get it, if it had a different name and not affiliated with magic or something, it would just be music. *facepalm). Right now I'm actually leaning towards the theme from Silverado. Awesome piece of music, and it's popular again thanks to that computer ad with the kid and the puppy.

Rockbeard Great Britain9 Posts April 04 2012 15:20 GMT #2 I agree, film scores are excellent when it comes to this kind of thing, because they sound great and people usually recognise them as opposed to some band music. I'd recommend people like Murray Gold and his Dr Who Score (I am the Doctor, is a good song), and maybe, depending on their level, some Hans Zimmer? He did the scores to films like The Last Samurai and Inception. Good Luck with the concert!
