I'm full-time programmer and I just can't work without a good background music. But if you listen to music 8 hours+ a day eventually you'll run out of bands or artists that you like. I try to aid it using radio straming services, and recently I stumbled up a this gem( at least in Brazil): Jeff Buckley's album Grace.
This album is just phenomenal, his voice is really good and the songs carry a good mix between rock and jazz, synthesizing a unique style. Overall, a easy to enjoy album and a must have on anyone's music shelf.
Anyone else got any other Artists/albums to recommend?
Pretty much anything at the top of the charts at jamendo is great. Personally I like Luk Hash, Zero-project, Roger Subriana Mata, and alot more.
But since it's creative commons you can download albums for free, and most of it is really good. Also, it's pretty much guaranteed to be something you haven't heard before.
I have some favorites, though they aren't the same genre as the music in this thread so far, so im not sure how much you may like it >_> One of my favorite "chill" bands is Hybrid, here a few of their songs + Show Spoiler +

Everything from Max Richter works very well as background music. I`m pretty much writing my whole doctoral thesis while listening to his stuff. Godspeed! You Black Emperor is also indispensable.
