LoL is to dota what sc3(yes 3) would be to bw. Having said that it's a pretty cool little game that can get you hooked. Especially if you play with friends.
You did say though that you only played 2 games of dota and then gave up. Keep in mind that dota is a very rewarding game and you will like it more and more as your skills develop. So if you plan to play dota2 you should insist on dota1 a bit more.

u from sea and u dont play dota? whats wrong with you? where is ur social life dude? LOLOLOLOL

Yes and if you play pubs you will end up with dozens hundreds of unfinished games from people leaving too early and/or honest disconnects.
Gameplay wise, lol == sc2 and dota == bw Infrastructure wise, lol == bw and dota == what the flying shit this sucks everyone just feeds and leaves Thankfully this will get fixed in dota 2 but that's still a while away

LoL is very fun, and although people join the bandwagoning on calling it worse than dota etc, its basically like comparing sc2 and broodwar, one is more mechanically demanding while the other still has room for innovation and strategy, but in the end both require tremendous amounts of skill to play at the top, don't let anyone fool you

not sure how the second sentence is relevant, hope you werent implying that LoL team comps are that static

Good luck, try not to let the horrible attitude of 99% of the players get to you.

Dota is harder, that's a fact. It's much more demanding mechanically, the animations are tougher, and skillshots are harder to use. There are "easy" heroes, but the thing about dota is that you have to be mechanically sound for any hero you play, and just have good game sense all around. Then add in the fact that just about all items have a use mechanic and once you get into the midgame you're gonna have 3-4 items that are dependent upon you using them correctly and there's even more depth.
With that said, I don't think it's a tragedy at all if you start out with LoL. It's fun, and most of the time you'll play a role that matters rather than getting carried by someone 5x better than you every game. Going around the map is easier, and hugging your team throughout the game is generally standard. It's also easier to keep your distance, brushes are pretty straightforward, and making items is really easy.
Also, despite being free, it's fucking stupid that you have to dump 20 dollars to get only 3 heroes in return. I don't know if dota 2 is gonna follow the same business procedure, but I highly doubt it considering all their heroes are free in dota.

From an avid dota player, LoL's skillshots are so crazy weird that it makes it hard for me.

The thing about LoL is that it relies heavily on skillshots. This annoys me to no ends as it is highly dependent on latency. Other than that, I think Dota is just as skill-dependent (or lack thereof, depending on how you look at it) as LoL.

It helps if you have someone explain the game to you. It's pretty easy to learn. A lot of people will yell at you, even when you aren't necessarily to blame or you're trying your best - just ignore them and be humble. Good luck
Why argue which one is harder? Who gives a shit? Tons of things in the world are way harder than both these games - why don't you go do that if you care about which one is so hard? Just fucking play whichever one you want for whatever reasons you want. Jesus, is that so hard? Do you people really need to justify why your hobby is better than someone else's hobby?

The thread title was not "trying to decide between dota and lol" so many off topic god damn posts

Well, the thing about LoL is that they show you the range and line of trajectory when you activate the spell making it easier, and the range on most LoL are pretty short. Every hero in LoL is skillshot based though, so if you're not used to playing heroes like that then it can be more difficult.

It's quite simple to be good at that game , unlike HoN.... But I suggest you to stick with SC2

What Chill said. If you just want to piss on the guys post because you think gour games better, why bother posting. Diversity is good, remember..

I gave it a shot. It simply wasn't for me. I just found it boring and I couldn't wait for the game to be over with so I could close it, lol. To each their own, though.
