So anyone who read my previous blog would have known that I recently decided to switch from the SEA server to the KR/TW server.
I just got my account today, big thanks to the staff over at sc2sea.com for the easy transaction.
And as you do you do your 5 placement matches and hold your breath.
Now for the back story and build up to the point of this post.
In the SEA server I was quite actually stuck in Gold league somewhere in the top 20 of my division.
Im not a hardcore sc2 player, but by no means am I a bad player.
And I think we can all agree that the SEA server skill cap is basicly the lowest of the servers, there is nearly no doubt in my mind of such a statement.
So if we basically "convert" a Gold rank of the SEA server to the KR server ranking, it would be high bronze to mid silver level.

I did my 5 placement matches and only lost 1 (freaking I hate ZvZ)
And to both my surprise and pleasure I was placed right into Platinum

But im trying to not to let this get to my head and just play more consistently than before.
But I will say im quite excited.
In other news I have decided to get a Das Keyboard over the other keyboards I researched.
Who knows, if I get really good, may start entering some online tournaments for some extra fun

Just played a one "SlayerSMMA" ...had me fooled actually, I forgot the real ID is "SlayerS.MMA" or something like that =\

This seems somewhat subjective to the persons needs and wants.
Im happy with a Das Keyboard, and while the keyboards from elite keyboards are very nice and can come with a bunch of pretty accessories they lack something that I need in a keyboard and that is a USB hub built into it.
Without one of those, I have nowhere to plug my mouse and headset into.

Quest for you: stay motivated to proceed playing on KR, after I hitted ML I was super frustrated with the lag and focused on EU/NA - silly lag from germany >.<

There basicly isnt any lag.
Because my internet routes through japan, I get equal ping times to both the SEA server (based in Singapore) and the Korean/Taiwan Server

I honestly highly doubt you'll be able to maintain Platnium if you continue playing on the server, especially since you're gold leauge on SEA. Placement matches are very unreliable as to where you'll be in the long term.

No matter the server, everyone below Master's league is bad, playing the game wrong and has no idea. People that are in Bronze/Silver probably have never played an RTS before or any form of competitive video games. It's the same thing all over the world... Don't expect Koreans Bronze league players who've never played any game competitively before to have a complete understanding of the metagame and 400 APMs. Server skills disparity is not an issue AT ALL below Masters league.

Ive been versing plat and diamond players on ladders for a while now, im pretty sure i will maintain, especially considering that im quite thorough with my gaming and have already downloaded 300+ replays of pro zerg players, thanks for the concern and lack of faith guys.

I also placed platinum with a 5-0 placement. Very very quickly got demoted to gold and even then I still lost a gigantic amount of games and was facing silver players at the end of the season. I'm sure when I get on to KR again I'll be silver. For reference I was fighting for a diamond promotion in NA last season and am currently mid plat EU.

Completely false. I can say 100% below masters players on KR are much much better than the other servers. I'm high diamond on KR right now and mid/high master on NA. Even diamonds and Plats on KR give insane fights, especially compared to NA/EU diamonds (i have a EU account too) they are up to par if not better than the Masters on other servers.
Hell, even players in gold seem to play the game higher than most Diamonds on NA/EU.

Agree with this. There is a massive skill gap coming from the SEA/NA server to KR below Master league.

I also got Plat after placement matches in the KR ladder and I'm also Plat.
Prepare to be demoted to GOLD / SILVER.
For those interested in getting a KR account, you should test your connection first.

And yeah, you can use a TW license to play on the KR ladder.

I only play sporadically but I'm Plat EU and Gold KR after quite a few seasons so I assume it's accurate 
They have very nice builds and often very well executed early timing pushes, although they also seem to suffer a lot of low-level problems and there are some quite bad players as well (1 Base 1 Gate Colossus rush???)
But hey more people on teamliquid chat channel hopefully, it's usually awfully quiet there...
