So, I'm sure many of us have been following this controversy that seems to have "shaken the e-sports community to it's core". I'm sure many of us are also over it.
But, I keep on seeing a lot of misguided opinions and incorrect facts on exactly what has happened. And the results of this in some cases are good for nobody. In some threads there have been "calls to arms" to contact GSL sponsors, and in most there is an ominous overtone of "I will no longer subscribe to GSL's."
I honestly believe this is simply because people don't understand how the situation has panned out, and the overall result of this controversy finally being over.
Anyway, to highlight this, I am making a compilation of all the important/relevant threads related to the incident. This is not an opinion piece, I am simply trying to help by providing an easy way for the community to see (whether they have made their mind up on the situation or not) exactly what has happened and the overall reaction by the foreign community.

Nestea vs Naniwa Korean Twitterstorm
December 13 2011 21:30. Posts 855
This thread contains the first reactions from the Korean pro-gamers on twitter, the comments are mostly about whether Koreans are over-reacting, or if what Naniwa really did was so bad.
An article on Naniwa from Thisisgame

This really started to make the foreign community realise exactly how bad the reaction to Naniwa's play, or lack there-of was. The comments still argue about whether the Koreans are over-reacting, but shit is really hitting the fan by this point.
A Rational Take on the Naniwa Situation
December 13 2011 22:15. Posts 275
A small thread, but still an interesting read. Compares Naniwa's situation to American baseball from an ESPN sports-writer. The quality of the comments vary, but most are just positive/negative remarks on the opinion.
Naniwa Interview - Blizzard Cup Group B
December 13 2011 23:22. Posts 1204
Naniwa's first interview regarding the incident. Naniwa immediately apologises, and explains why he did it. The comments here are mostly about what Naniwa did, little to do with the Koreans view on it.
Idra and Sen to Code S
December 14 2011 18:03. Posts 1549
Although it's not assured that this meant Naniwa had lost his Code S spot, the writing was on the wall. The comments vary from staying on topic congratulating Idra and Sen, to bashing GOM, to comparing Idra and Sen to Naniwa. It's a bit of a shit-storm.
What happened in Korean stream just now
December 14 2011 18:38. Posts 1097
This thread contained the incorrect quote from Mr Chae in the OP claiming Naniwa was an amateur prize money hunter and not a progamer. The comments probably contained some of the harshest towards and most blindly supportive of GOM. The OP has since been edited so it's hard to grasp exactly the original content, but it was big at the time.
NaNiwa not invited to Code S
December 14 2011 18:38. Posts 5681
5681 posts! This thread, became the general discussion thread regarding the issue. The comments are literally crazy. Not really a great thread to learn from, but interesting to see how out of hand the community can get when there is a busy thread with lots of opinions flying around.
Are GOMs arbitrary rules becoming a problem?
December 14 2011 20:12. Posts 415
It was a fair question to put forth to the community and started to move the discussion in the comments from the actual Naniwa incident and more towards how GOM decided upon the punishment given and whether was a more underlying problem with how it was handled.
Correct Mr. Chae Statement
December 15 2011 03:04. Posts 400
This thread was helpful in clearing up that Mr. Chae was not as abusive as previously assumed during his statement on stream. It just helped settle the community down somewhat mostly. The comments are all over the place really, but it was a pretty important milestone compared to the negativity that brewed due to the earlier incorrect quotes.
Doa's take on the Naniwa/GOMtv situation
December 15 2011 05:04. Posts 89
Another small thread, but another interesting read. An opinion piece, but none the less a unique perspective. The comments are interesting with some good questions/opinions being asked/offered. More level headed than most other threads.
Quantic / NaNiwa Apologize to GOMTV / SC2Community
December 15 2011 06:04. Posts 895
The official line from Quantic/Naniwa. This made most people who were upset with Naniwa's actions happy or at least indifferent. So by this point the only people who still really cared about the issue were those who were upset with GOM for either the severity of the punishment, or how it was handled. The comments reflect this.
GOMTV Announcement regarding NaNiWa
December 15 2011 06:33. Posts 2185
And that lead GOM to release their own statement. This closed the controversy more or less, except for one factor. That they clearly and concisely state that Naniwa never had a code S seed heading in to BlizzCup. There are a lot of negative comments towards GOM, assuming they are just making things up, or flat-out lying. It just makes no sense considering everyone thought he already was in code S. The comments return to a bit of a shit-storm in this thread.
NaNiwa-GOM Controversy General Thread
December 15 2011 06:39. Posts 280
A general thread summing up the controversy up until this point. Contains many useful links, and provides discussion solely for Naniwa's/GOM's actions, not any other controversies regarding rules or the tournament structure. Basically provides an overview of the situation and an attempt at keeping that discussion out of other threads of different discussions.
A Different Perspective on The NaNiwa Controversy
December 15 2011 17:51. Posts 624
Another alternate viewpoint thread, however this one from the point of view of a team manager. The thread also received a feature on the main page, meaning it got a fair amount of views and good discussion about the point of view in the comments. It's all in all a pretty good thread with relatively good opinions all-round.
MLG statement on Providence Code S spot
December 16 2011 05:04. Posts 1129
And finally after GOM's statement explaining that Naniwa had not received a code S seed, MLG announced that they were not aware of this and as far as they were aware he should have. They do however state that GOM has jurisdiction over this, and it is "unfortunate." The comments here range from being upset at GOM, to defending GOM saying they did announce it, to the middle ground of it's over now anyway unless are any more statements, so let's just get over it.

And just to wrap it up, I want to say thank you to the moderators of TL for allowing these threads to develop and mature rather than just merge them all in to one big discussion. They all indeed did discuss the situation in different ways. There were other threads of course that were closed but pretty much every one of them were just discussing the situation in a way that one of these threads covered.
I can't imagine how hard it would be to moderate the forums in a time such as this, and I think it is great what you guys do! Thanks TeamLiquid! The community would be nothing without you.
