That was basically what happened the entire weekend. I just kind saw these sick gosus walking around and I was too nervous to talk to them. I'm not a shy person necessarily, but I'm not too forward either. It's just that right before I think I might say something I think "I don't want to bother them" or "I don't want to interrupt their conversation". This happened 5 times while I was considering going to talk to HotBid.
It sucks. I feel like I'm trying to ask a girl out but I have no in with her. See, I don't particularly care for autographs. They don't really do anything for me. I would much rather just shake a gosus hand and wish him good luck in the tournament. A conversation would be cool, but wishing them good luck would just be something nice, and I feel too awkward to say anything. Too self-conscious >_<.
The only person I managed to introduce myself to was Rich, at 1:30 AM, which was pretty cool. But I basically managed that because he was chilling by himself, in between taking pictures, so I didn't feel like I was interrupting if he wasn't taking a picture right at that moment.
*sigh*. Pretty much the entire day I just wished I could be a programer, not because it would be cool or for money or fame, but just so I could hang out with the gosus and talk about Community or Naniwa's sick play.
MLG is still pretty damn awesome though, although different from what I expected. There are a lot of people, yet somehow on the stream it seems like more than in person, probably because there is a whole lot of empty space in person (and the Call of Duty section seemed to be half empty everytime I looked, although I didn't look too often).
Probably the worst thing about being live is that the sound from the Call of Duty and Halo stages are almost as loud as the SC stage when you are on the left or right areas of the SC area. If you are in the middle, I imagine the sound is awesome, but on the sides you inevitably miss things you wouldn't on stream.
I don't want to be too negative though, since things like that are more than made up for by just being in a really excited crowd. During the HerO vs Puzzle PvP, there was a guy in the row behind me shouting about how there is no way HerO would lose the second match, and it just made me happy that this guy was super passionate about HerO.
Oh yeah, and JP is huge. Not fat, just large, like a giant or something. It's crazy because he seems so chill, and everyone knows giants are bloodthirsty.
