The finals of the Global invitational bring together the best from the U.S., Korea, and Europe. The Zerg player EGIdrA squares off against IMNestea, another Zerg, in the first match of the night. IMNestea is known for his defensive, droning style which has lead him to three Global Star League championships and a second place finish in Blizzcon 2011 in October.
Nestea's opponent, EGIdrA has shown an increase in patience in his recent play netting him a win over Liquid`Sheth, Zerg, to bring him to the finals in addition to his first place finish in ASUS ROG Stars Invite and a fourth place finish in MLG Orlando.
Col.Naniwa, Protoss, will give his all against IMMvp, Terran, in the second match of the night. Naniwa's recent practice time has been spent in Korea, which is considered the mecha of e-sports. Hailing from Korea, IMMvp has won three GSL championships in addition to his win at Blizzcon 2011 just one month ago.
Koreans have been the favorite in the past, but the foreigner scene has shown potential with first place wins from EGIdrA, Mill.Stephano, and EGHuk. Jet lag has been a common concern for Koreans in foreign tournaments, and this tournament is no different with 14 of the 32 GSL contestants competing in the open bracket.
Koreans aren't the only worry in the open bracket however, as Liquid`Sheth, Liquid`TLO, and Liquid`Tyler will fight their way along side other foreign players in EGIncontroL, EGMachine, and EGAxlav. A total of 254 players will attempt to clobber their way through the open bracket for the coveted championship bracket seeding.
