Well, if he includes "elitist" in the title of his opinion piece then shouldn't people expect something controversial? Personally, I didn't find his work to be offensive. It seemed he put his heart and soul into it, as evident with the last tidbits. He was willing to do and contribute much more. What I did find appalling were the overly aggressive comments and then Milkis's reaction afterwards.

Whatever. I hope Milkis isn't gone for good but I also wish he didn't say goodbye in such a way.

Anytime I've seen Milkis mentioned, which is often, people talk about how great it is that he does so much for the community, or that he deserves more praise for his work. Frankly, he gets far more kudos than he should. That's not to say he doesn't work hard or isn't talented, but people in his position generally don't receive praise for their work.

After all of the support people have given him, he's spitting out his pacifier because, and correct me if I'm wrong, people on the internet reacted harshly to something he wrote on a divisive issue. What exactly did you expect would happen? Did you really think the rules of the internet, and to some extent the world at large, weren't applicable to you or your work?

This is a slap in the face to all of those people who I saw do their best to make you feel appreciated, which completely contradicts your purported altruistic motives for working so hard. I'm not entirely sure of your motives for posting this either. You're either fishing for some comforting coos from your fans to make yourself feel better, or you're being vindictive and trying to tag back the people who panned you before leaving. Either way, what you're doing is incredibly petty.

I do hope this is the last I hear about you.

I'm not questioning how challenging translating is, and I'm not trying to rag on Milkis's performance at all:

But he did have an issue of stage fright that really took away from his ability to translate as well as he could. So I believe he would be the best if he could get over the stage fright he seems to have, this would in my eyes truly make him the best translator we have.

But I guess this isn't even relevant anymore. The chick from IPL was pretty good though, MLG should snag her.

Thats some people's style of communicating. Its pretty clear that not being able to deal with being in the public eye (or rather having to deal with the hater's from behind the monitor) is more or less what this post was about. Yeah its overly dramatic, but the guy invested a lot of time and energy in the community so I'm personally inclined to give him a break.

That and I always find it amusing when someone tells someone to grow a thicker skin on the internet.

I mean look at incontrol, he gets shit upon all the time for his opinion/other things, but he fucking loves what he does and goes through it and ends up with much more people loving him than hating him.

i think a little more respect is in order for someone who has been translating articles from playxp / fomos etc for some time now, just to give people team win interviews. and who recently bailed MLG out by taking care of the korean players. Alot of korean pro-gamers have build a relationship with milkis because of the care he gave them as his mmm "job" and the fact is he dealt with his stage fright just to translate some words to make the crowd cheer.

and now look at it a bunch of retards posting both here and reddit, can we not just all get along?

From what I gather, this is how it all went down: Milkis had an opinion, some people disagreed with him, were impolite in conveying this to him, and he's decided he's done StarCraft and eSports as a whole, based on the small, small, fraction of the community that doesn't appreciate what he does. I absolutely hate to see him leave, especially over something like this.

Tyler's first post in the thread is probably the most insightful thing you'll get out of this, I hope that it changes his perspective a bit if he doesn't do it on his own by just sitting down and thinking. Sincerely sorry to see Milkis leaving after all he's done for the community. And if that's the case, and he isn't back in like a week or something, and you're really gone for good, bye, Milkis, it was nice having you.
