Yes sir, that's me! Well, at least, tonight it is.
Okay. So I am probably the most shy person in existence. I have very little confidence talking to anyone I don't know. That, coupled with the fact that my Korean speaking skills are pretty terrible, are reasons why I thought I'd never get a chance to approach any of my favorite k-pop idols or SC players. The one time I managed to get into a 2NE1 fansigning, my mind went blank and all I could do was squeak out a thank you and run away. When it comes to progamers, I could barely do any better. Even though the managers are much friendlier and open to pictures with fans and giving autographs than the K-pop group managers, who never let you do anything, I never had the courage to go up and ask for a photo or autograph.
But today, I guess the heavens felt sorry for me and lady luck was mine.
After the IEF games finished, I followed a huge group of little boys to the press tent, where Bisu was holding a mini fansign. I got in line and obtained an autograph with very little effort on my part. But at the end, I stayed behind to try asking for a picture. I was about to hand my camera to Coach Park, when two girls cut in front of me and got their pictures taken first. Afterwards, I guess Coach Park decided that was enough and dragged Bisu away back to the player's tent, before I could muster up the voice to ask him. All I could think was, why couldn't I be assertive like that? I should learn to push people aside to get what I want as well
Anyway I thought that was my last chance gone to waste, so I started leaving to go check out Rain's concert in Kangnam. Halfway out the park, I JUST so happened to run into Stork, who had left earlier right after the game. At that point, I was struggling with whether or not I should stay and get some more photos or just leave for the concert. Eventually I changed my mind and followed Stork back inside, but he too disappeared into the players' tent. I sighed and stared around aimlessly, and was about to leave again.
Then randomly, some Korean guy next to me asked me if I was a foreigner. I told him I was an exchange student, and we started chatting (it was really hard; he couldn't speak English and my Korean is, as mentioned, pretty awful). He asked me if I was a fan of the girls performing on stage, and I told him I was here for Kim Taekyong and Song Byungoo. He pointed to the tent, where Stork and Bisu just emerged together and asked me if I had gotten a picture with them yet. I told him I didn't know how to ask. Then he pulled me towards them and asked if they would take a picture with me. I was so embarrassed, but they were cool with it. Stork actually thought I only wanted one with Bisu and moved away, but then I pulled him by the arm towards us xD
God I'm so short compared to them ;~;
So yeah. I'm so happy I decided to stay, so ecstatic that I got to meet my two favorite players, and grateful that a Korean was so kind and hospitable to a foreigner that he just came up to me and decided to help me for no reason. + Show Spoiler +
And that Bisu beat Stork, because winners usually stay to do fansignings while the loser leaves early, and I already had Stork's autograph >< sorry Stork!
Woohoo, autographs! 3rd one is Jangbi's, which I got on Friday at the Samsung Khan fansigning ^^ My desk looks like some kind of Protoss shrine right now LOL
Go here for the rest of the photos I took tonight.
lol @ stork having to be dragged into the picture, hell im a guy and im jealous xD 2 of my favorite protoss players :D and signing from Jangbi!!!!! xD bisu + stork = best modern rivalry in bw (boxer/yellow doesnt count anymore) PvP in bw so fun to watch

reminds me of blizzcon 08 where I accidentally made jangbi a few moments late because I was trying to ask for a autograph through broken universal sign language haha

I have no clue why he would feel that way either. The stadiums are always packed every time he gets to OSL finals. Maybe it's because Stork's fans tend to be guys rather than girls (as opposed to Bisu fans xD). I saw plenty of Stork fans in the crowd though, judging by all the fansigns. This one was cute (nice zealot drawing!)

Heeeeey, stop drinking that 고려 haterade :c I'm from California, and I've been here for 3 months now, with 3 months left to go. Heading home in December. Nooo, I didn't get to go to 연고전. I overslept and missed the bus and didn't really know how to get there on my own.

Seraphe, we need to meet at a scheduled time or I might just break into your room and steal those autographs. And your hand.
Aaahh I was going to ask you to come with me, but this was sort of last minute (since I had originally planned to go to the Rain concert) and my phone still doesn't work lol. I really gotta get that fixed. Oh well. Once the season starts again, we can go get plenty of autographs together XD

It's fine. I'm quite sure I was busy with starting up Taekwondo again and learning the Subway a bit. I did read about it but I wouldn't know how to get there without massive help.
Rofl, better fix your phone. Once the season starts, I plan to go on a hunt.
Awesome! Sounds like you had a great time there! Spend the remainder of your time wisely. Just before leaving is when people really start to become fully adapted and have the best time of their life. Exchange programs tend to end faster than you want it to be.
I expected this to be a blog about meeting some random SC2 players. Then I scrolled and saw the picture and instantly had to rate this blog a 5. Very cool!
This reminds me a bit of myself. I asked MC and SangHo(TSL_Killer) for an autograph at the IEM Global Challenge Cologne at Gamescom '11. I even met KellyMilkies (who probably felt insulted by me as I didn't recognize her right away and just asked her "Hey, weren't you the girl who casted GSL for a season?" Totally dropped a clanger there).
I never met anyone I really admired (who was pretty prominent at the same time) so the feeling was completely new to me, but I felt like a little girl afterwards. Looking submissive and running away as soon as they both had signed my SC2 package lol
I'm very happy for you. I also used to be extremely painfully shy, and it's something that I had to work out of. I had friends who were also very shy, and I think it's something I understand, so I always try to help them. Shy people don't make waves, but as friends, they are the people I trust the most, and honestly, in positions of power, shy people would also be the ones that I would trust the most.
This is so cute!! I'm kinda jealous ^^ and by kinda, I actually mean super jealous. I'm so glad people were nice and I love that you got Stork to stay in the picture =) 진짜 부러워요! I hope you're having a great time in Korea!

I would say it's pretty relaxed (although I got placed in a slightly lower level than I expected cuz I totally failed the oral test). I'm the kind of person who has a very hard time sitting in one class for longer than an hour, so meeting for Korean every single day for 2 hours can be a bit trying at times, but overall, it's far more enjoyable than the Korean classes I had back home at UC San Diego and does go by relatively quickly. The classes are small, and I really appreciate how heavily the teachers focus on developing everyone's speaking skills, something I didn't really get at home, hence why I fail at communicating whenever I need it. Even if I knew what to say (in this case, 같이 사진을 찍어도돼요?) I was scared it would come out wrong and I would sound stupid. So yeah, the daily practice is really helpful. I think that if UCSD could copy Yonsei's Korean program, I probably wouldn't have quit learning lol ^^

when i went to a hagwon for 3 months the whole class was done totally in korean and we just had to keep up and realize things by looking in our textbook, it was challenging and intense
i am thinking about going to yonsei though to perfect my korean

I think most of the teachers know English and will answer if you ask them to explain in English, but for the most part, everything is done in Korean. But yeah, I know what you mean. That's how my classes at home were, and at a certain point, I couldn't keep up anymore, had no clue what was going on in class, so I just dropped it. Can I ask what level you're at now? Pretty much fluent, right? ㅋㅋㅋ

I fucking envy you. I truly do. 4 hours/day with the same type of homework each day and the fact that I feel like I never understand half of the words we use and for what reason.

Holy crap, 4 hours?! That's ridiculous. I have no idea how I'd ever live through that o.o You should ask the teacher to slow down a bit, if you feel like you're not learning well.
Okay okay. 같이 한국말을 연습하자~! ㅋㅋ Just give me a time and place. Actually, you free on Sunday? I was going to go watch Nada at WCG. Accompany me while I stutter at him and fail at asking for an autograph LOL

Yeah. 3 lessons of learning words and such and 1 of pronunciation. I guess I just need to study a bit more to learn it better.
Really? I'd love that! Where is it that the WCG will be held?

You do realize that is the equivalent of proposing to Taek Shin?
Stork doesn't lack confidence. He just knows that he's far more popular among males than he is among females, in comparison to someone like Bisu. You can even tell by the fan chants during their games; Stork's crowd sounds deeper.

And LightAngels, why don't you just go PM him lol It's not like I have pictures of Opticalshot lying around. >__>
