The law assumes porn is banned. But still pornography in whatever form being more popular than expected is exactly the result of restrictiveness about sex in Japanese culture. You see on the internet sometimes reactions like "omg they allow the craziest types of porn, but now they are suddenly so prude?" The point is and remains that Japanese society is often the complete opposite of what people think it is. Just because there's a couple of crazy wild young people and a couple of perverts doesn't change that. In Japan you don't even talk about sex, period. And often you don't have any either. Now the US is also a conservative country so maybe it is different from Americans. But if you are from Sweden or the Netherlands, it is more obvious. About 50 years ago? Probably because of diseases spreading that way? It's not like they banned it because it's prostitution. Porn isn't banned, you can easily buy movies and stuff. Only prostitution is banned and that means sexual intercourse with people for money is banned, but anal sex and stuff is still allowed. Also, there are dating services where you just pay for the company of the girl(or man) and nothing more. You don't directly pay for the sex but it can be a part of it. That's what I meant with holes in the system. And those really get exploited. That was always the case, being polite and everything(outward). It didn't change at all over the times which can be a good thing. It's not different in the Western culture, just check the real life and compare it with the internet. So Japanese aren't that different. You talk about it with friends, that's normal everywhere. But you don't really talk about it in public which is not uncommon here as well. Funnily enough, there are ads for sex toys which you won't really find here(at least I haven't seen any). On August 14 2011 03:13 xarthaz wrote: Oh Come on. That argument is totally old and invalid. Its not like sedentary work for entire day makes someone so tired as to not be capable of 5 minutes of physical activity. Yeah, after getting home at 2/3am, you will certainly want to have sex with your wife. And often enough, after work, you go into a bar with your co-workers and drink a bit to relieve stress(instead of having sex), so there is your explanation. | ||
