Sup fellas, I've been playing exclusivelly on the korean server for about three weeks now (I have disowned my sea and na accounts in order to really get a feel for this server). Exams finished last week, and to say the least I've been playing more than I ever have.
I'm going to put it out there right now. The korean server is leaps and bounds a head of NA and SEA in terms of raw skill in which the level I am playing at. The low platinum league I am in feels like masters. They all have mechanics, game sense, and each player I've faced all has there own unique way to play the game. Aggression is another thing. The terran and protoss players are relentlessly aggressive. It has become quite stressful, this is because back when I was laddering NA/SEA my best matchup was ZvT, now it is quite the opposite. My ZvP and ZvZ have improved tremendously. I have beaten high ranked masters players as only a low masters level player on the NA server as of four weeks ago. I feel my gameplay has improved sevenfold through playing on this server. I have made a few friends along the way, though with their limited english, still take the time to give me pointers and words of encouragement when playing practice games. However, they do enjoy their all ins. It makes me a sad panda when I get close positions on metalopolis. It is always an insta loss.
On the korean server I am currently rank 33 platinum league. To say the least it was horrendiously difficult when I was first placed. My style needed revamping, I needed to become faster, crisper and mentally capable. I thought my multi tasking and mechanics were great on the NA server, wow was I proven wrong. However, I feel I have improved greatly in the short time I have spent playing on the exclusive korean server.
Here are some replays of my adventures. As of today I have been smashing the ladder which is really amazing. Losing a game is proving a lot more beneficial also, the mistakes made are a lot more clear cut as opposed to what it was on the other servers I played on.
ZvZ: (once my weakest match, however, since playing on this server it is now my strongest. I don't know what happened, I just seem a lot smarter and more efficient in this match up)
ZvT: (what a game, was expecting more aggression. This guy was way softer than most of my other opponents)
ZvP: (I like to use mutas ZvP, however I tried hydra/roach for the first time ever essentially and it worked out quite well)
Ahhh the korean server, loads of fun. It will most likely become my main starcraft 2 outlet come season 3, I hope to advance to masters by the end of season 3.
Thanks for reading :D

so what are the rank equivalents?
for example I know that GM on SEA is about equivalent to top 1000 masters on NA
what would be the equivalent on korea server, do you think, mid diamond?

I'd be curious to know his SEA rank as well though. It's always interesting to be able to compare these things.

does it really make a difference what server you play on? bnet matches you up against people of similar skill on its own doesn't it?

If the average player in every league is better (which they are, on Korean servers), then yes.

Reading what you said,i wish i could play in different severs. Im currently mid diamond in Kr i want to know how i can go elsewhere. I think since bw being the national game has a effect on sc2.

You could easily purchase a NA/EU/SEA account
By the way, what do you mean by "I think since bw being the national game has a effect on sc2"?

Every Korean from this generation knows how to play Bw.I still can see 7 year olds play bw in pc bangs.I get suprised since the game is fucking old.I think the hardcore mechanism from bw helps koreans to get better generally. It is more easier to adapt compared to alot of newcomers in sc2.

Plat/Diamond on Korea equal Master on other server, that seems about right. From watching stream on Korea server I know that Koreans love agrression play. Good luck with your journey on Korea server OP!

could you tell me how you get your hands on a kr account (i heard you needed a korean ssn)

Well, I can tell you that I just played last night for the first time on the Korean servers from the California (lag wasn't bad at all, hardly noticable), and I did my 5 placement matches. This is how they went:
Platinum on the NA Server.
1. Protoss bronze - Easy win, he was trying to four gate me, but was really behind on his build so I went over with some early agression and manage to win. 2. Zerg bronze - He dropped right away. I won by forfiet. 3. Protoss bronze - Waffle stomped me. I wasn't even a challenge to him. It was embarrassing. He had 90 APM and really good micro and macro. I watched the replay, I had no chance. 4. Terran bronze - I barely beat him. 5. Terran bronze - I got my a$$ handed to me.
So, based of this i'm thinking that bronze players can beat me and the level of skill in Korea is insane. Bronze is like our gold... So i'm thinking I'll get ranked bronze right, and I was ok with it. What did I get ranked, I got ranked as Gold? So maybe someone can help me understand why I got ranked as gold?
I'm scared to even play..haha, because if I got beat that bad by some of the bronze players. I can't even imagine what gold is going to be like...haha.
