It sounds like you play well in small amounts, but after playing a long time you lose focus on the bigger picture of the game. Taking hour long breaks every three or four ours can do wonders. Excercise is key is staying consistant. A healthy person can play well for a much larger percentage of time than an unhealthy person. Staying hydrated during practice is good too. I always have some hot green tea next to me.(thnx day9 for introducing green tea to me) Mostly just try to get into a habit that feels fun and natural. Don't put too mcuh SC2 on your schedule or you will burn out and lose focus.

I notice that when I play with music, I get uncomfortable and agitated, everything annoys me and bothers me. However when I'm on skype talking to friends and just laughing, I still play horribly, but I don't make the silliest mistakes I usually encounter when I play. Consider talking and keeping a light-hearted mood :3

Playing more ladder is a good tip. I don't see how people can improve if they don't play ladder. I get cheesed and timing rushed so many times, I'm used to it. Except at MLG, people have builds designed to completely kill you at a certain time.

I don't have any issues holding off cheese when i play at my best. It feels as if that when im serious i'm constantly second guessing my self.. as if im unsure what to do... Things just dont "Click" as well and i play much worse.

Idra and other players play at their best, and still get cheesed. Like my driving instructor said "You can't have an offday" only way to accomplish that is to practice more so you know more or less what you're doing.

I would suggest you spend a lil more time practicing and thinking about just how much work it is to really be "good" over posting existential thoughts of "mindsets"...

I think it has to do with pressure. You put more pressure on yourself when you want to win badly, and sometimes it affects people negatively. Sometimes all you can do is keep practicing in this mindset until you can overcome it.

My best guess is that when you're in your first mindset that you described where winning is everything, you probably think too much. You mentioned that you second guess yourself. Well from what I picked up from stalking IdrA, is that most of your actions should be instant and subconscious. Sometimes it will be the wrong decision, but with enough practice, you'll be able to identify what to do in certain situations so quickly that it would make you a very strong player. I suppose when you're in the casual mindset, you probably just do the things you know of and practiced with. Since you don't overthink and second guess, you're actions are much more smooth and it makes your overall play much better. The only way to fix it is to just practice way more to get comfortable with a ton of different situations and to just not overthink things. Just do it and trust yourself and your practice to swiftly make the correct decision. Sometimes you will lose in a stupid way, but it would probably make you a very consistent and strong player. Just look at IdrA for example Since time is everything in SC2, actually stopping to think and second guess yourself is probably worse than actually makiing the wrong decision. Disclaimer: I'm not a pro player, but I stalk IdrA's interviews and almost everything he says, so I probably have a tiny bit of credibility.

Thanks for this response, I believe you are correct... i was thinking along my walk today that it has alot to do with the subconscious... im deff going to start practicing more.

You brag that you can beat team members who practice for "6+" (gasp) whole hours a day? And you can take games off of Pokebunny and Sheth... Did you watch Columbus? Did you see how badly everyone got mauled by the Koreans? That only Koreans knocked other Koreans out? Did you see Sheth forget to build his spawning pool against MMA? Idra's games against MMA and then the MC rematch meltdown...? I would suggest you spend a lil more time practicing and thinking about just how much work it is to really be "good" over posting existential thoughts of "mindsets"... Nada said in that recent interview there are some days when he's in school where he plays 1-10 games a day. So before you start saying "the koreans all practice 14 hours a day" just thought id throw that out there. What terrible advice you are giving. You're basically saying he shouldnt even bother showing up to MLG because he'll get stomped by Koreans. Why would anyone even want to listen to that at all? Should he play differently because he might face a korean? hell no. He should keep up his same game plan, and the better player will take the win.
