Honestly, if it wasn't for my Navy buddy, I wouldn't be playing Starcraft 2. That's for certain. I hung out with him a lot and I have no idea how we ended up talking about Starcraft but it just did. We would chat on FB a lot about Starcraft 2, along with other guy. My Navy buddy and the other guy would play SC2 together on frequent basis and I would enjoy their tales.
However, my Navy buddy seems to be sad that I don't own Starcraft 2 so he told me that he will get me the copy so he did. It was fortunate that he got the copy on sale so he save few bucks on it. So I went home with the copy and proceed to installing it on my computer.
Installing SC2 was bitch so I rewind my memories back when I start to play SC:BW. Actually, I only had start play SC:BW maybe couple of months before I got the copy of SC2 and I have never beaten the campaign in SC:BW. Shame on me. OTL But I primarily play Terran campaign so that kinda influence me to focus on Terran in SC2.
I only got SC:BW because I was just curious about it and it's only 15 bucks so it's not too bad. Also, the gaming forum I'm on was very hyper about SC2 so I opted to check out SC:BW to see what's it all about. Also, my gaming buddy convince me to pick up a copy SC:BW so I'm eternally thankful to him for getting me into SC scene. I only play few missions of Terran campaign but it was very neat and I really enjoy but I have never touch Protoss and Zerg campaigns at all.
Then SC2 is now playable on my PC so I start to play the multi player right off the bat. It was very nerve wrecking for me because I had no idea what I was supposed to do. I remember my first game because neither of us would attack each other since I couldn't find my opponent and he was too scared to fight.
My friend would cheese the heck out of me and Navy buddy would simply crush me with his off race. I think I may have get bit frustrated at some point but I opted to continue because I just find it very fun.
In fact, I'm that 'Bob' in this thread. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=209790
So yeah, I'm only playing SC2 for fun and I don't really care if I get promote or not. I just treat it as real time chess that test my mental and ability to solving the problems on the fly. I don't really stress out if I lose or not. In fact, I just lulz if I get overrun and get crushed by bunch of Battlecruisers.
My friends would always tried their best to help me so I really appreciated it a lot. I'm always in awe of my friends because they're sooooooo bloody good. One of them play random, which impressed me a lot. I tried to play random but it was too difficult for me because I cannot play zerg very well, whereas I'm solid with Terran and a-okay with Protoss. Random is too difficult for me since preparing for 9 match ups is just too much for me compared to me sticking with Terran only so I can be ready for 3 match ups.
I used to play with guy whose is in Masters but he would always chew me out and get upset whenever I made a mistake or didn't expand fast enough. I opted not to play with him because I do not want to be lectured at while I'm playing. He seems to be so arrogant and cocky, whose tends to brag about his APM and all that jazz. I tried to avoid to play with him by logging on guest mode so I don't have to deal with him.
Sure, I'm still in Bronze league but I'm just enjoying the game a lot. I just really like how I have to set up everything from beginning and build up the army and tried to microing them to the victory. It's very hard for me to attacking and macroing at the same time but I'm doing the best as I can.
My APM is very very very low so I'm working on hotkeys to improve on that. Amazingly, I manage to beat few players with high APM, which surprised me. Reminds me of the certain Bonjwa with low APM whose would whoop other noobs.
I tried to lure one of my gamer buddies to play SC2 with me and he only play it for a day before he return it back, which saddened me. He didn't like how he get his ass kicked so easily by others and me and complain that it's too hard to get good at it. It's unfortunate because he could have been badass zerg.
I think I'm like that turtle, whose progress is always slow and steady but surely will get there. I'm enjoying the journey and improving my skills in SC2 so it's all about having fun.
However, as much as I play SC2 myself, I find myself prefer to watch SC:BW pro scene just because they're more entertaining to me than SC2 pro scene, in my own personal opinion. I love how Flash pull off crazy moves during the match while Jaedong is being badass mofo and very aggressive as heck.
My Navy buddy is very happy that I'm able to play SC2 with him so we can 2 vs 2 whenever we can. I don't mind because it's pretty cool and challenging game that keep me stimulating.
As 'Bob', I'm having fun in SC2 and I do support the e-sport scene. :D
Isn't that enough? XD
