I'm in Taiwan right now and want to purchase a copy as a gift for a friend. My account is on the NA server so I obviously want to make sure he gets a NA copy as well.
In order to digitally purchase, we need to first make an battle.net account and then buy the game from there. No problems there, but $60? Amazon.com sells the (I assume physical) copy of the game for $50. There is nowhere else to buy a digital copy online less than $60?
I'm willing to pay, but just want to make sure I'm not voluntarily getting screwed out of a discount. Thanks for the replies all.
Feel free to use this blog post as also a Q&A session for those who remember who I am/was. Haven't seen a spider in a long time (thankfully), but did have a small cockroach problem last year in my Taipei apartment. I hate cockroaches probably more than I hate spiders, despite cockroaches being pretty much "harmless" and spiders potentially fierce warriors.

Looked into it for 15 minuets.
It would appear so. Only other solution would be to ahve somebody buy a copy here that you trust, and have them give you the key.

I'd do it !

If I buy a physical copy of the game, all I need to do is add the CD-Key and it will register the game to the account?
Thanks for the offer Adrenaline, but if that's all I need to do, I'll just send it to a family member and have them give me the key.
What is the cheapest price online then, Amazon.com @ $50?

yeah I thought it was really werid too I bought mine of of newegg for $50 as well. Newegg tends to ship for free so you should be fine.

Yeah. All you do is buy the physical copy, have them get the registration code, and send it to you. When you add the key to your account it lets you d/l it.

Just to make sure; you do know that buying the SEA version will allow your friend to log on to both SEA and NA right? In case he wants to play with some of his friends in Taiwan as well.
|
Oh yeah, that's right. Just get a SEA edition.

I"m gonna use a gift card to buy mine to lower it to 35 bucks

Ya pretty darn expensive if you ask me just for an electronic version. I'm looking to buy an account myself (even if used) and I honestly can't find a place to get one cheap.

Buying a used account might be a bit pricier depending on the account itself, I think.
It would be cheaper if the account has not underwent a character name change.

I looked at the price of a SEA account - it's 109 SGD, which comes out to like 88 dollars. We'll be playing on NA only so it doesn't seem worth it.
Another option seems to directly buy a CD-key from websites. For example: http://www.allcdkey.com/Starcraft-II.html
It comes to 57 dollars, which means you save a bit but then potentially take risk from a 3rd party site.

The online prices are ridiculous, you can get a box of Sc2 to like ~30€ in Sweden. I remember buying the latest WoW-expansion for like 50-60€ just because it was faster than standing in line at the night it went live, but it's like twice the price for a box :p
