OK i offiicially learned my own Way to 8 pool. First you kinda obviously get 8 drones, you can scout if you WanT with an overlord... Then you drop your pool. When you drop your pool you make 2 more drones and an overlord, you may have to save up for the overlord... Then you make 3 zlings and a queen and you can go anywhere you WanT from that. I originally made this because it was fast and kept a good economy at the same time. Personally I like to Mass speedlings and then go for mutas, but that's just me.

theres really nothing economical about 8 pool.. a muta transition is really hard with such a low drone count. six pool hits faster and has slightly less of a timing window to be scouted. honestly..i dont like it. but then again im only a lowly plat zerg

I prefer 6pool or 10pool with speed. "I probably will never use this..." kinda fits my opinion even if I have done 8pools like twice or so.

You don't need to trash him. This is his own, personal way to play 8pool. I'm sure he tried 2 sets of lings, 1 set of lings, no queen, not making the spawning pool on 8, etc. He probably even tried 4 sets of lings. Just because he prefers 3 sets of lings doesn't mean you need to be so harsh.

if you like 8pool you should first try 10pool and also do 10pool/gateway units in 2v2s its ez pz i got to master with my friend who doesnt play this game

This didn't deserve its own thread but this build is strong as hell in team games. 8 pool, 9 ovy, 3 sets of lings, queen, drone, gas, drones until 17, ovy then spam lings, take workers off gas at 100 and get speed. Transition into expo or rush for mutas, pretty strong opening. Lets you really get one of them weak with the initial lings and leads into a strong timing attack around 5:40-6:00.

well i did try a lot of different combos and 8 just seemed to work best for me

This build is a lot more advanced than you give credit. You completely missed the overlord at 9 after the pool.

I agree. The circumstances kinda are limited. Early aggression like that doesn't always work out in sc2. It bw that build would be viable more often. But the fact is if you don't scout first, or don't send a drone to scout, the wall will most likely be up, a wall with 1 or 2 marines. If the map is uber small it's possible. But on any larger map ex: scrap station. I don't think it would work out very well.
