Am I right? i mean you play SC2 and you get placed into gold and your like "yeah im the shit! Gold, that so pimp!!" then you realize one day that there is platinum above you and diamond above that and then wtf there is even masters and grandmasters!!! the stress is rediculus so you ladder you butt off and watch your favorite pro gamers to get tips and steal builds hell you might even pay for some coaching and then you get this lovely message "Congratulations you've been promoted to Platinum 1v1" but what it should really read is "Welcome to the bottom of the barrel" . Don't get me wrong it does take skill to get into platinum and those there should be proud of their hard work but taking that next step to get into diamond or higher is a grueling uphill battle. I personally have been in platinum for all of season 2 and about 1/2 of season one and im only now getting up to the top 8 in my ladder group and I'm sitting down twice a day for a couple hours to look at the GSL, NASL, TSL, DreamHack and the Day[9] daily to watch pro gamers and learn to be a better gamer I have even booked coaching lessons with VTDesrow to help work on my mechanics and build orders but it just never feels like its enough! I am told that I should get some coaching I watch the best players in the world I ladder every day to keep my bonus pool at zero i watch my replays and I refine my builds but it just feels like im going up hill in a blizzard and there is no sign of hope in the distance. . Then I log in and sit down only to get cannon rushed, two gate zealot rushed, 6 pooled, 10 pooled, proxy raxed, bunker rushed and 4 gated (ok 4 gate is acceptable im protoss and there is literaly nothing else in the meta) and i get soooooo good at ripping cheese apart that when i do run into a standard build it throws me off! yeah thats right platinum is so cheesey pizza hut would charge you extra just for lookin at it! so now I'm resolving myself to set up some practice partners to train with me so I know how to scout a 1/1/1 expand build and 3 gate expo and 14 pool 14 hatch so i can have some experiance dealing with real games and not these "I hope he dosent scout on 9 tehehe" bullshiters. I realize cheese is a aprt of SC2 and that without it people would just economy cheese but it would be nice to get up into diamond or masters where the cheese levels start to die off and really get to play games that start to look liek what i see on Team liquid. Cheese should be there to keep peoples build orders in check I mean hell cheese even has it's place in the GSL to keep korean pro's on their toes but i just can't wait for diamond leage so i can get some real meat and potatoes games in.

If it makes you feel any better. Masters is full of stupid shit too. And it`s done by `masters caliber players``. Make it a habbit to scout on 9 and over-scout. Be super safe and play standard and you will do fine against the "cheese" as you put it. There's no harm in sending a probe around your base every few if you're worried in the early game. If you want I can help you out a bit.

Paragraphs are your friend.

The funny thing is in masters I'll play PvP and still get cannon rushed vs players who are favored vs me. Some people must actually die to it I guess, though it seems pretty easy to defend for me. Don't expect cheese to occur with less frequency as you move up in the ladder.

The reason you see this in upper levels is because PvP is such a bad and unenjoyable matchup that people just want to get it over with asap. Cannon rush has a 50% win rate, just like proxy 2gate.

There is a lot of cheese on higher leagues unfortunately :p.
I would advise spending more time watching your own replays instead of pros playing and play more. There is only so much you can learn from the pros without practicing it yourself, I know its tempting to watch and very entertaining but dont fool yourself into thinking that will give you an edge over your opponents.
Keep at it and stick to 1 buildorder that's safe against cheese and gives you room to play the macro game if they dont .
Keep at it!

Just watch Destiny every once in a while. He's almost Top 200 and he's still getting cheesed really often.

Cheese is just as bad in diamond except better players are doing it...don't get your hopes up.

yeah can someone help me with the paragraph thing? i put them in but when i post i just shunts everything into a blob. i jsut did it by inserting a period inbetween paragraphs but it looks weird like that

i guess you are watching way too much content. focus more on your own play and instead of watching all the leagues just watch 2 of them and play instead. you will get much better trough practice than through watching tournaments.

Look at it like this: you're at the top 40% of the people who play actively Starcraft --> more than half of the ppl are noob compared to you ^^

Don't feel bad. Focus on solid mechanics and learn to beat all ins rather than perform them. You can get to master league if you just practice mechanics, learn scouting to beat all ins, and playing lots of games to get a good game sense. You can win most of your games if you simply know how to scout and defend an all in, then hold on to your economic advantage and win.
Don't even think about grandmaster's league, it's nothing. It's basically a small portion of master's league, and you know who can get into master's league? 6-poolers and piqliq, who only cannon rushes and 4 gates. You know who hasn't gotten into grandmaster's yet? Lzgamer, and drewbie, top players who were among the best in BW also. Learn to defend cheesy people like that and you will eventually ease your way through diamond and make it to masters.

whats the point of this thread? just keep playing and youll get better eventally as do players from all leagues, platinum is no exception.

I know the feeling I'm stuck in platinum league too.

Ditto, Seems like when I go on a winning streak I start playing Diamond and they cheese me. >.<
