LonelyIslands Canada590 Posts April 02 2011 01:21 GMT #1 So, I drive an awesome 2002 Sunfire 2door. Yes, it is as awesome as it sounds and No, I do not have a muffler big enough to smuggle a new born across the border with.... yet! Actually, to be honest I'm lucky to have a muffler at all. My car has had bad luck, I guess me, my associated family and my car has had bad luck. It all started when I bought it about 2 years ago. It had 220, 000 kilometers on it and was still just in its prime! It wasn't until December of last year that it all began. A guy driving a Toyota Tercel slammed on his breaks, for what reason I am still unaware, and I skidded into the back of him on ice. My hood was crumpled, I actually went under his car and his tail pipe destroyed my passenger head light. With some force, I was able to close and latch the hood. The accident bent my radiator in a crescent moon, as well as the bracket to hold it. So if that thing busts, the car is done, won't be worth fixing. I was able to get a second hand head light and everything continued as normal. I was lucky, not only did my car still run, it had a custom hood job... My now fiancee drove it to work one day and slid into a small tree, denting the driver door, but guess what, it still opened and didn't do any major damage! A few months after that the trunk wouldn't close, and as I was trying to see what was going on with it, I slammed it (a little too hard) and put a big hand dent on the trunk... Now, my car being as awesome as it is, has those side skirts. Well on boxing day of this year I was on my way in a huge storm. I commute 2.5 hours to and from work at that time. The roads were really bad, see picture. This is a highway. Suddenly my car caught ice and.... in the ditch I went. You can also see my awesome custom hood in this picture. Shortly after this I was driving home from work again, my tire fell off because the guys at the garage failed to tighten my lug nuts. So my driver side fender is dented pretty good. I don't have any pictures of it at the moment. I managed to get out of the ditch, the snow claimed my side skirt, at least the front of it. It's still hanging on there somehow with two clips on the front missing and it bobing in the wind when I drive! Come this past Thursday, we bought a new car: Its a 2010 Cobalt fresh off the lot. I had to take it in and get a sensor fixed, whatever. You can clearly see my awesome ride sitting beside it. We took two cars over, my fiancee driving my baby and me driving the new Cobalt. She pulls up to an intersection, bus waves her out, no cars coming, as she goes a van in the turning lane decides to go straight... BAM! Falcon punched my car right in the face! Somehow, he also cut my license plate in two... I wasn't angry, more impressed. Nobody was hurt, thank God.. except my baby. I thought the rad was busted, but nope, not leaking anything. So here I am, going to work tomorrow, 1 hour commute now, with my beast. It's the first run since the accident on thursday besides driving to the store and back. I'm hoping it all works out and she makes it. There's probably about 320, 000 kilometers on it now... So when it comes to buying a new car, why would I buy anything but when it has gone through so much, and still purrs like a kitten?! Side note: I'm a devils fan, I know they arn't doing well this year. However, when I got home from work one night this was waiting for me on my front lawn! and then we made a Snowman facing the neighbours windows!

CCa1ss1e Canada3231 Posts April 02 2011 01:35 GMT #6 well I haven't had the opportunity to drive yet.. and I'm 26.. so many other things require money, not sure if I could afford it right now.. hopefully at some point. thinking of getting like a 92 or 93 integra to start with.. although my buddy says since I'm like 6'2" a car like an integra might be a little too cramped for me, lmao. XD

unit United States2621 Posts April 02 2011 01:39 GMT #7 the cobalt isnt a bad car and that sounds like you had quite an adventure w/that sunfire :D i need to learn how to drive in snow :D seems exciting for some reason...just that feeling that the car is a force at the edges of your control that you need to reel in or crash is pretty exhilarating lol probably just adrenaline best of luck with your new cobalt :D personally i would have gone for a subaru/any awd sedan if i were in canada, but you cant always afford the best for the area :D lets hope this cobalt is luckier than the sunfire, and may your sunfire rest in peace after the beating it has taken to steadfastly serve, and protect you :D (you never got hurt right? edit: nvm reread, glad no one got hurt :D:D:D)

LonelyIslands Canada590 Posts April 02 2011 01:52 GMT #8 Im still driving the Sunfire, the fiancee is driving the Cobalt. I'd rather her in the safer vehicle. I know, I'm a romantic haha.

Grobyc Canada18410 Posts April 02 2011 02:22 GMT #9 I have a Sunfire too and it treats me real nice. Had one little accident in the winter of '09, but it still runs decently well, especially considering how I'm never very good with proper maintainence
