TSL2 was when I was offficially introduced to the SC community and when I got into progaming. I can't remember how many nights I spent up watching Proleague or Starleague matches and sleeping in class the next morning because of it. I ended up discovering ICCUP and started my way to my newly discovered dream of being the first foreigner to win a Starleague title. Stupid dream but I had fun on iCCUP grinding out over 500 games in one season leading me to end up being D+ almost C- in my first season.
Eventually I had to give up my grinding of games and a lot of my time fell out of SC into my personal life as I had to pick up in my family life as well. In the spring of 2010 my family fell into huge problems. My uncle ended up in jail for fraud my brother fell into addiction problems and my parents split up. I don't really wanna go into it to much but shit went down pretty hard. I ended up spending the little free time I had conversing with people on TL and iCCup. You could say that the community helped me get through some of the toughest shit in my life that no one should have to go through.
Eventually most of it cleared up and life went on as normally as it could going into the summer of 2010 when SC2 was coming out. I was gearing up to disappear from the outside world and mass up games in SC2 and waste my summer that way. I went to a midnight release with a friend of mine where I got my Collector's Edition game. I got a sweet poster a hate and a free headset. I also got to see some guy pick of the cardboard cutout of Jim Raynor and run away from Future Shop employees trying to chase him down. That had to be one of the funniest moments of my life seeing a nerd being chased by other nerds.
Me and my friend spent that night racing each other through the campaign on hard while talking on skype drinking Rockstars to stay awake. I ended up winning finishing the campaign some time at 12pm. We stayed up till the next night laddering and playing eachother. By the end of the night I finished 6 energy drinks 6 snickerz bars and who knows how many other chips and other junk food. Probably going to remember my nerdy night of SC2 for the rest of my life. Highlight it underline and bold it as a fun night to remember.
After my summer of SC2 I went back to school and had to stop playing as much but I tried to keep up with other plays I knew. I've still managed to keep up even with my heavy school load. I'm a masters league player around 2900ish points but I'm getting back up. I stream here on TL every now and then and post quite a bit. I recently started coaching some people which I've found really rewarding to be helping people enjoy a game I enjoy so much myself. Watching Esports grow so much has been fun and TSL, NASL, GSL and all of the other tournies are just amazing.
I've probably left so much out here but I really wanted to just get it all out as it rolled into my head. Hopefully it looks good and there isn't to many spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes. Hopefully people who made it this far enjoyed reading as much as I did writing this.
May all of your Fungals, Storms and EMPs do Terrible Terrible damage and all of your games fun with all luck to you.
Peace out for now, Sworn
