well, my fellow brotosses, the amulet removal made it through to the live version of sc2, meaning henceforth every one of our games will look exactly the same.

can't say it will affect me so much now, as i have stopped opening with storm and have been favoring safer, more boring colo play. though when i do use templars before (or instead) of colo getting those storms out just helps you BARELY defend on a razer's edge. i think it's absolutely ridiculous trying to use them as the backbone of your army without amulet.

you wait what, 44 game seconds to throw an 80 damage storm that a terran has so literally sit in to be cost effective against anything. the last times i've opened storm i've just gotten kited trying to use it, anyhow. and then they make 6 ghosts and you'll be hard pressed to ever get a storm off worth casting.

the sad thing was this nerfs the only comparable thing toss has to octo drops and baneling drops to put the aoe hurt on a mineral line. i guess it's still there it just takes a warp prism not getting 2-shotted by a viking for 44 seconds to actually happen. i guess there are still dark templars but only koreans find a way to not die while getting those :/

i'm not too butt hurt about the change though. awful na ladder terrans are the squeakiest wheels in the community and if they want to be able to make vikings blindly every game then of course they should be able to. who wants to "pay" 270 minerals for a scout for information a 50/50 tier one unit can find, anyway.

I'd like a cheaper HT then - though i still love the archon, their bonus dmg to biological will come in handy as usual.

As an awful na Terran, I gotta say ht was the least of my problems in TvP.
I'm more concerned about the stim delay for tvz anyway.

Well the ability to warp in and instant storm was pretty op vs T and yes a single storm isnt cost effective but when u blanket storm and then have a main army thats doing damage to half health bio its pretty strong.

Btw, terrans have the squeakiest wheels??! Shit, the swarm needs to step it up guys D:

yea i actually like archons a lot before one ghost in on the field since when mm is stutter stepping you can get a decent amount of hits on the medivacs. i guess the nerf to emp will help out with that a tad. prob gonna be doing some more stuff with dt.

i think cause of removal of amulet templar archive should be slightly longer build time but also give access to storm since ht is el oh el bad now ye?

I think the issue is that protoss doesn't even need HT - it's more of a luxury. HT's are the new SC1 scout.

how do you carpet storm? if you have any more than 5 storms available to you any terran that knows how to play is going to have a bunch of ghosts out. i am able to carpet storm in 1 out of every 10 games i use templars simply because the ladder pits me against some jobber who can't control units or respond to any kind of deviation in his opponent.

this is a balance change for bronze league and it is ridiculous

yeah i just felt like makin a blog about it since i used to 1gate fe every pvt and get many gateway and fast charge/storm/upgrades.

the old protoss in me is crying but i cut that shit and just make da colossus ^^

yeah i just started to really use storm drops in the late game quite extensively but i guess now i will do the same with dt drops? i guess i'll have to toy around with it this week

why not use HTs like we use them in BW.

make'em,wait'em,use'em and fuse'em.

plus without amulet that 200/200 min/gas investment can go for a faster +2 attack which is really helpful for archons.

I'm no expert im just putting out my thoughts....

oh i forgot about this change as well:
PROTOSS
Mothership
Units leaving the Mothership's Vortex are now un-targetable and immune to damage for 1.5 seconds. The Vortex animation has been replaced with a swirling troll face.

I guess the toilet was a little imbalanced so I guess I'm fine with this change. I have yet to hear whether or not the units are stunned though since it would be kind of ridiculous if enemy units leaving a vortex could attack while invulnerable


and yeah i'm prob going to use ht as the extreme extreme luxury unit and keep 1 at each expansion or something like in bw

God forbid we can't have Protoss players actually waiting for units. They should be allowed to chronoboost their ht for faster energy regen

technically it still works,it just doesn't OHKO anything and everything.

yeah its probably good that you can't 1shot a whole zerg army in 2 seconds haha. i never really used the tactic much but i had lots of fun watching kiwikaki destroy 100food armies instantly :D

Problem is that every pro who was asked about KA removal answered that it would be good to make it like it was in BW. On the forums, nearly everyone agreed that this would be the best solution.
I am not sure if Blizzard did not want to listen or if they simply dont know how KA worked in BW...

dunno,but I think its probably because it won't be fair to the other caster units like Infestor and Raven...then again it would be unfair to let them have energy upgrades...

lol this functionality is built into the map editor. some youtube vid is around showing a chronoboosted colossus moving, shooting, and regenerating shields faster.

Because there were no Colossi in BW

The mass gateway + storm warp in was a newer style that was moving away from the deathball, but now we're back to mass colossi : /

I liked amulet mostly to defend against T drops - especially at my 4th and beyond... I think it's really sad that they removed the amulet because I can't do that anymore unless I park HTs around - and I simply can't afford to do that most of the time.

We've lost a great deal of flexibility, as far as I'm concerned. I really liked high templars although they're generally harder to use than the colossus (and let's be real, you often need one or the other or both, as they have the same function in many cases)

The removal of the amulet severely impairs protoss late game, IMO - and makes it more boring. It was cool to have a clutch unit that I could spawn anywhere on the map to defend against T drops... and terrans drop a LOT - and their drops are almost always cost effective.

This nerf is just stupid and unwarranted. Nerf the colossus.

Basically what I got out of the patch is that Blizz wants us brotoss to go robo every single game. Next thing you know they'll just remove the other 2 tech paths too... :/
