I remember when I found a hero in oGsInca when back in GSL season one he did a cannon rush that failed, but he still ended up winning. That was so cool to me that he had the courage to do something like a cannon rush in such a high level tournament. Sure it was because i was a super noob at the time and now I would watch that same game and think damn why would you cannon rush PvP, and how poorly did that one guy macro that ended up losing after a failed cannon rush but it still sticks with me and makes me want to root for Inca to this day.
I also remember a time shortly after all this that I was falling in love with marines and always had way to much gas. So I thought why not skip the gas and get 2 barracks right away? So I did that and was winning a lot with it against all races (I was silver at that time). That was really cool in itself that I had my own little secret about gas being overrated. And then Foxer (MarineKingPrime) came along and did my build, and he did it against every race. I sure did brag to my friends after that, especially since I talked with them about that build before he made it popular.
I also did that build steal thing that Day9 talked a couple of weeks ago. I watched the VOD of IMSeed and copied his game where he went one base 4 gate plus immortals plus void rays. I literally wrote down the build down to 60 food (i know he adjusted the build based on what he saw, but i still did it to get that) and did it a few times against the computer before taking it online. Even against the computer it somehow felt really cool when I executed the build completely perfectly, as i never noticed how smooth smooth play is. So I took that build online (mid platinum) and it really worked so well against terrans. They would almost always scan the robo, stop making marines in fear of colossus, and anything but marines would die so so hard to zealot-immortal-void ray (or phoenix verse air), even against a couple of diamonds. And I felt so cleaver too because common knowledge says look you can't support that many production facilities on one base, but if i was attacked before my 3 void ray timing i would defend it easy because I have the four gates up and I can cut the high tech production and make a ton of units whenever I want. Sure it might not be a build that will take me to masters, but it certainly is really really fun.
Wow SC2 is pretty damn awesome. I cant believe I have formed so many fond memories over a game in such a short amount of time and I didn't even talk about the tournaments I entered or the winning streaks me and my friend has had 2v2. Sure i also had moments of hating the game too (i broke my favorite headset over it, i miss my headset) but its best not to dwell on that.
