This may seem like another blog to you all but it means something more to me. Like the hoardes of players joining the SC community for the first time, I am stripping away my past days of pedo bear-like stalking on the forums. I want to be apart of this amazing community so for my first blog, I will describe how I got into SC2 with no BW experience. We are the new generation that will carry the flag of TL and SC2 on our shoulders. (Yes, I am talking to you the 4k people stalking these forums and not logged in)
Like the millions of people who visit youtube, I check my daily source of videos. RayWilliamJohnson, sxephil, communitychannel, shanedawson was always at the top of the most viewed list. They were all settled in with their huge viewcounts and audience. But one bored day, this random canine guy jumped to the top of the most viewed list with something as lame as talking about a computer game.
It seemed stupid. I wasn't stupid. I ignored it.
A few days later, this "Husky" got into the most viewed again with this boring game about crafting stars or whatever it was. Giving into peer pressure it seemed, I watched the first minute of it where little animals collected blue crystals....
.....Yea, how exciting =_= . I really rather watch grass grow then die and grow again.
So I ignored it once more, finding the 100k+ people who watch it stupid. Of which I wasn't, so I moved on.
This continued till a week later where another man by "HD" talked about crafting stars and I simply gave up and thought: 'Okay, if this many people watch a game about crafting stars, I might as well see what the fuss is about. If nothing, I can diss their stupidity for it later...'
The games slowly started to make sense. The blue minerals was like money and you have to spend it to make it useful to be able to kill off the other people. Okay...so wheres the excitement? And more importantly, where do I finally get to craft stars?!??!?!?
I kept watching the videos and learned of the strategy they used: long macro games seemed intruiging and armies were positioned with detail but what got my noob senses tingling was this miraculous thing called .... cheese.
It was beautiful - I saw it coming, it came, then I was satisfied. (Then I decided to watch SC2...yea...couldn't help myself : ) ) In all honesty, the first builds I learned was the 6 pool and the ever-more-difficult 7-pool. 'The cannon rush' and 'the proxy gates' also followed soon after. I thought I was a genius at this game. IdrA would have loved me...I'm sure of it.
When HD and Husky finally announced the HDH Tourney, I was excited and ready. Armed with my extensive knowledge of cheese, it was going to be a fun night.
Then, after being used to my involvement with SC2 as a watcher, I googled HDH and found this amazing site. A forum where ideas and strategy and Nada's hot manbody collide into one epic explosion of greatness..TeamLiquid.

Part 2: My journey into actually playing the game and placing .....you guessed it ...bronze -_-
