Hi TL, once again I call upon your wisdom!
How much weight do you put in your dreams? The reason I ask is that for years and years I have been having recurring dreams. There are two of them that I have every single night.
The first is that my entire family suddenly dies, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles. They die in a number of different ways, but I always remember it in freaky detail when I wake up.
The second is that everyone close to me has killed me at one point. Parents, girlfriends, co-workers, friends. Pretty much everyone has killed me in my dreams. Sometimes I wake up not being able to breath and in horrible pain from being stabbed/shot etc, other times I die in the dream and see a funeral, etc etc.
It even borders on the ridiculous. I watched Jinro's GSL games before bed. When I was sleeping I dreamt that he showed up outside my apartment in a banshee and shot me with the missile thingers.
Should I read anything into these dreans? Some co-workers think that I should talk to someone about it. It has never bothered me before. I've always wrote them off as being dreams.

i remember about 5 dreams a year, which basically is never. So for me, none.
it kinda sounds like you watch a lot horror/splatter movies? :D

You might want to see a therapist to see if they have anything to say. It doesn't mean you're crazy or unbalanced or anything but you might have some attitude/emotional issue that's just causing your dreams to suck.
I know some people see dreams as prophetic or something. I don't put any stock in that whatsoever.

Yeah I'm the same, never put any stock in it. But the way my co-workers reacted when I told them about it got me thinking.
@mrd - I don't watch any horror/slasher movies at all. They freak me out!
|
well then maybe you should try to get used to it a little, maybe you will sleep better if these thoughts don't permanently freak you out while sleeping or something? just theorizing here but maybe you won't remember the stuff as much when your mind is more used to it while dreaming?
probably just bs, but who knows ^^

I think dreams are like your subconcious trying to figure shit out in abstract ways. They mean something but I'm not qualified to interpret that kind of stuff. I normally remember/get them when I go to sleep relaxed, or sleep for a long time, so it's weird bad shit happens in yours.
One time I dreamed that I was drowned or couldn't breath in some way and I woke up and my blanket was stuck over my mouth in a way I couldn't breath properly so I had to move it. Creepy.

I think its pretty obvious that your room is haunted.
OR
You are secretly a suicidal serial killer.

While I think the idea of dreamsigns and symbols having direct meanings (elephant = x) is complete BS I do put a level of stock in recurring dreams. We often dream about things that happened recently or are on our mind, so recurring dreams can indicate problems, concerns, or worries that are troubling us.

I had a few dreams where I was dating the girl I liked at the moment and had sex with them and all that stuff. Never done any of that with anybody. Weirded me out big time every time I had those dreams.

This sort of thing happens all the time. Stimuli from waking life are readily incorporated into dreams. In fact that is the entire basis for Lucid Dream induction type products such as the Nova Dreamer (detects REM sleep eye movement and then emits flashes of light).

Yeah I can easily see how dreams can refelct recent stuff or trauma and such. I've probably had these same dreams since I was 16-17 (I'm 26 now). Some of my co-workers think that they mean that subconscously I have trust/betrayal issues.
|
LOL my dreams are very important to me. They are dramatic and detailed and usually the me in dream always have some certain features, thus those dreams are like another life LOL but I just take them for some exciting adventures and enjoy them (I do get chased around by killers and see everyone gets killed sometimes tho) i don't think you should take it seriously and I think most of the time trying to read dreams is pretty useless. Just enjoy them. write them down into stories or something. It might turn out to be quite entertaining. ;D

I have pretty weird dreams i remember sometimes but i have these weeks where i dream about having sick (awesome) porn sex with random girls and it messes me up all day when i had one ))
|
one time i had a dream that I was pissing in some ocean while swimming. in actuality i was pissing in my bed. dreams are fairly accurate!
|
My dreams tend to have a link with what's going on in my life. Sometimes they give an interesting perspective. The real eerie thing is when I try to remember something and I'm not sure whether it happened in a dream or in real life :-S
|
I Dont know why but i dream nearly every 3 times a week, not having nightmares but when i was maybe 5-7 I used to have dreams about batman being bad and killing innocents. that blow my mind cause i love batman. Sometimes i dream about games. its really sick when you find out new build and its actually working (10 secret hatch into 14 pool is awesome :D) And ofc I dream about having nasty sex but i hate this kind of dreams cause after i wake up i feel so bad

That already happened to me several times. Pretty strange to remember doing something like doing a homework just to realize that you still have to do it because it was all a dream. The sad part is that homerwork actually was pretty good in the dream and you can't match it in real life. ^^

Do you?
The fact you have the same awful dream every night is obviously a sign that something is messing with your subconscient. Do you feel that apart from the dreams you have a fairly decent life and apart from the regular life problems you are happy?
If both awnsers are yes then I think you should talk to someone who knows what they are talking( not your co-workers).

Yeah I have a good normal life. I most likely will talk to someone who does know what they are talking about.
Thanks
