Having a real tough time at the moment with ladder. Going from 1 silver to 1 gold is now matching me with plat players who are 'even' and diamond players who are 'slightly favored'. It's just like they just have more stuff than me at all times. I know to 'just macro better' but I'm making scvs to make units that are just outnumbered all the time.

I suppose that I need to pressure more but whenever I try to drop harass (I play terran) it usually sparks the 'k time to win' attack and I lose hard. I think I need to actually learn a hard build order and not just an 'idea' of what to do.

I know what a 3 rax and stim push is, but out of 10 games I play they will all be at different times and with different food amounts. Perhaps thats where the problem lies?

Sounds like you're on the way with your reflecting your games at least. You should consider posting a replay or two for some blog readers to check out and critque!

I know I get supply blocked like an idiot but I feel that my army wasnt too bad and I had no idea about the templar until it was far, far too late

REFINE IT THEN. theres no reason for you to be winging build orders, when you have professional replays and teamliquid.net at your disposal.

Watch your replays, pick one thing you think you handled bad and play the next 10 game focusing on doing that thing right, then pick the next thing. It is all about making playing the game like a second nature, doing things without really having to think about them.

Having a 'refined' build order isn't really the solution here. Refining builds is for top level pros, not gold level players. I'm in Masters and I wing my build every game. The solution, as always, is better macro. Especially given his description that he's outnumbered all the time.

yeah. macro is not just all about making constant workers, but also about always making units. at that level it doesn't even matter what units you make, pretty much. just slam down a bunch of rax, attack with stim, expand, get medivacs and more stuff, etc. keep your money low, probably is the next step after having constant scv production down.

blizzard tries to match you with people that are at your *skill*, not *rating*. So everyone should be winning only around 50% of their games until they get to the very top (top 50 in NA).

^what he said. I haven't played too much 1v1s and probably have a bonus pool of 1.2k sitting at 1.6k points diamond, but i'm constantly getting "even"ly matched up against 2800 masters players. Generally it shows the system recognizes you are better than your points may indicate, so take it as a compliment
