ok
im in silver rank 8. i know thats terrible compared to you. but idc because i and others that play this wonderful game can agree that gold/ silver are the lines that define a gamer of this SC2. its the choice of "R u good?", "R u ready to give all ur time to a community to this game?"
i feel like as if you want to go to platinum or diamond or even masters, that ur basically selling ur soul. if you like this game, great.
i say this because my brother is a rank 1 platinum, who plays on a god awful computer, as do i, and hes in college. he should belong in diamond because he is just better than some diamonds i know. im not saying the game is brocken, im saying that, once u get to the gold border line, you have a choice.
my brother was a straight A student in IIT. i am proud of him. but now i see that all his time is playing this wonderful game of SC2. i know this because, i have gone down to his dorm and watched him play this wonderful for days on end.
it is really amazing that is. hes only failed math twice because he skipped his final exam for a 2v2 match with ROOTqxc, (personly i would have done the same).
this game isnt a common shooter, its a crack. if you fail to play it daily, you fall down into the hole. going down in ranks, losing ur builds, losing the experience of other builds that u think ur opponent might use. anyone else feel the same?

thats really good do u watch replays all the time though?

I don't fully agree with you saying Gold/Platinum = Selling your soul. I placed in plat moved up to diamond than got replaced into platinum without any training, any real time put into the game (Although did get demoted back to platinum ) and through all of this I didn't and still don't study or use build orders (mostly just use common sense from things I learned in BW that vaguely get passed on and apply in SC2) because Im not trying to be competitive in SC2 the game is rather bland in my opinion at the moment and it doesn't appeal to me like SCBW does. The biggest reason I am able to maintain where I am is just because I have the ability to macro better than most of my opponents and I usually just expand behind my pushes. Im not saying that you shouldn't put time into the game to get better but I don't think gold/plat are the time to choose if you are going to dedicate your time to this game, I think that's a decision you make when you start this game. A casual or a spectator's (I mean someone who has the game but prefers to watch top level players) rank isn't going to mean much to them other than a delightful surprise when they rank up or a minor poke in the forehead when they rank down. I am not saying everyone is like me (I did play wc3 and SC at competitive levels [WC3 more so than sc]) but everyone isn't like you and your brother either. Everyone excels differently and at different levels in different things and some people have the natural talent to just retain their skill better than others. Also its probably not best to make brash general judgments like you did because someone can 4gate in every match up and maintain a diamond or plat rank easily. Does that mean they are better than others or really deserve to be there with their current skill? Most of the time no, but its still the place they hold and people whose mechanics aren't well developed probably will lose to it frequently.

"i feel like as if you want to go to platinum or diamond or even masters, that ur basically selling ur soul. if you like this game, great."
lol no, most people who are in masters/diamond dont commit their lives to it, at all. Some people in plat/diamond dont even have 100 games played, its funny to see lower league players say that the p/d/m players commit there lives to the game, when in reality, your just bad
|
i do c ur point, but looking at what u played. WC3, SC, SCBW, u have played this game for a long, long time. just different versions.
u have played the this game for a while and yes, u r very natural talented in this wonderful game.
dont get me wrong, i love this game and i wish i could just play it all the time for the rest of my life, but i do have a life.

This is exactly my point, i never played any other RTS games, and i hardly ever play sc2 anymore, but im not in silver/gold/plat. but people who are in the lower leagues, think every one else who is in a higher league automatically has no life/lives in his moms basement/fat. i expect this thread to be closed any second now lol

dude chill just a game lol

Consider this post to be offensive.
YOU AND YOUR BROTHER are stupid so I doubt he's a straight A student. Why in the hell would you give up FINAL EXAM just to play a 2v2 with someone? It's no wonder that he's in PLATINUM because he can't make the right decision in the game as with his life.
|
i dont take offensive, im not gunna start a fight with a random boy on tl.net if u think im stupid, why do u read this? please dont answer, makes it easier
|
Only a dumbass would skip a final exam worth more than 50% of their grade so I highly doubt your brother is an A or even B student.
|
CDCramer,
i dont mean to offend you,
i mean, im in football and i try to play this game as much as i can but it is very hard for me to do that, their just isnt enough time to play this game to be such a high level,
IM SURE SOMEONE WITH ENOUGH NATURAL TALENT AS U CAN PULL IT OFF i do have a life, my brother has a life, and im sure u do too.

skyR
iu said he WAS a A student

It doesn't take much time to maintain skill at a diamond/master level.
If you're pushing to be competitive at a high level it's a different matter, but aside from that...
|
Worst thread ever, congratulations.
