After about 6 or so months of playing Protoss, I have decided to switch back to Terran, which I played during beta. Protoss is just boring. Though I have complaints against the entire game in general, I feel like Protoss is what hurts my impression of StarCraft 2 the most, and there are really only 2 units that combined, makes most standard Protoss play (in my opinion) very bland.
The Sentry and the Colossus. I find the two units insanely boring. The sentry with its force field slows down the momentum of the game tremendously and I hate how my T1 army is completely balanced around the ability of the sentry to slow down the pace of the game to a crawl so I can tech to Colossus. While sometimes sentry play can be very 'awesome', I just wish my gateway units were more powerful so that there would be more micro involved rather than just splitting armies apart.
That leads me to my complaint against the Colossus: It's boring, and IMO overpowered. I don't like how my army almost always revolves around 3-4 gigantic monoliths that are the center point of every battle. I hate how the Protoss army is designed as a meatshield so that the Colossus can do the DPS. Zealots? Meatshield against marauders. Stalkers? Meatshield. Sentry? FF. Void Ray? Meatshield against corruptors. Phoenix? Viking Killer. I hate how little micro there is in a Pv matchup aside from dancing colossi, and making force fields.
It might just be me, but while I see a bunch of other races doing very awesome micro, I simply don't see many Protoss players executing the precise micro that makes the game exciting. This may be inherent in the nature of the Protoss race, but the utter lack of micro (in my opinion) in many cases makes playing Protoss very bland.
If anybody watched my stream for the 1-2 months I actually streamed, I'm sure they would know about how much I fucking despise PvP. In my opinion, it's the worst matchup. I don't know whether it has changed since the patch (I really doubt it has), but PvP has always been a shitload of bad Protoss players that just cheese, and win because they can cheese. Whether it's cannon rushing, blind luck proxy gates, or just some dumb Korean 4 gate all in. PvP is just overall a fucking terrible matchup. If it gets to late game, it just becomes some retarded colossus war, and the game is almost always decided by one battle because it's impossible to replace colossus quickly enough to defend a push from the opposing player who both has colossus and a fresh warp in of units. The fact that a '4 warpgate challenge' thread exists on TL is a testament to the stupidity of PvP and Protoss in general.
Terran to me feels like something new and fresh. I might get tired of playing Terran soon, but for now, it's amazing. I love trying to micro, multitask, harass, do different builds and just experiment to see what works.
I've played probably 25-30 games of Terran since switching races a few days ago and most of them (if not all) are in this rep pack!

Stuff I've tried to varying degrees of success are 12/14 Rax in TvZ, different Hellion Drops in TvP/TvT, Marine/Raven/Banshee in TvP, and maybe some other random shit. Criticism is welcome.
As far as playing goes, I actually have no idea what is right in TvZ or TvT. TvP I have a bit of an idea of, but the other two matchups I have done no research on so in just about every game I'm just winging it based on what seems logical/cool.

Kraggy! Do some awesome mech against Protoss, currently using mech in my TvP (I'm low diamond btw) but it works wonders in maps that has small cokes, lots of cliffs and hellions are fucking awesome against Protoss light units. 3-3 mech is a beast ^_^
Also, I agree, Collosus I think needs to be reverted back to the beta style in which it doesn't do that much DPS but a very powerful pew pew attack but very slow.

Meh i have the same story than you. Started with protoss then got really bored by PvP ( 4gates or Colossus war -.- ) and PvT so i switched to terran, was kinda fun for a while but ultimately... i went back to bw.
TvZ is probably the best match up to play in Sc2 even if it is kinda boring to watch at the top level because there are way too many dumb allins.
TvT isn't too bad either. TvP on the other hand... :/

i made the same switch for the same reasons. particularly how PvP is just who has the better 4 gate. sticking with terran now, lots of good micro and the onus is usually on you to take the game.

haven't had a tvp yet, except for the one where he had nothing and I rolled him lolz.
I can't figure out how many rax/starports/facts to hve off of 2-3 base. Keep on having a trust fund. Being broke. having a trust fund being broke etc

I used to off race once in a while in team games or just random 1v1s but I agree that I found Terran to be the most fun - there is just so much you can do and you don't have to rely on just Force Fields or just getting a colossus, or as Zerg rely on just not dying to retarded crap. I've been fighting the temptation to take the hit in ranking and just switch to Terran, but sadly I might just take the leap.
TvT is also the most awesome mirror matchup IMO. It really can exemplify position wars instead of blob vs blob.

I usually switch races up time and time again. It seems like I always swing back to Terran because of the macro style and the things you can do with the units. Protoss is boring for me as well, I just can't get into them as much as Zerg or Terran. Good luck to you on your journey as a space viking!

I haven't tried to play zerg yet because I don't really like the race in general. Everytime I play it something just feels off so I never play zerg anymore

If you're looking for a change, try a Jinro style macro game. It can be pretty hard to get to, since a lot of people on Battle.net like to cheese and rush and end games quickly, but they are incredibly fun.

Yes, this is what happened to me too! I used to play Protoss in beta and when it released but it got so freaking boring. It always just revolves around some sentry play and colossus pretty much in all matchups.. Sometimes you'd include phoenix vs zerg or void rays against terran but mehh.. and the usual 4 gate.
So I decided to switch to Terran because of the variations you can do. Fast viking to snipe overlord, fast helions, fast dropships, fast banshee.. you can do much harass stuff with Terran while multitasking (which essentially will get you better at the game) whereas Protoss you just slow down the game until you get HT or Colossus out and pretty much own faces.
Yeah, macro games is fun but for me, those games take forever and I'm so exhausted after each game. I mean it's fun from time to time but I wouldn't be able to do it every single game because it's usually quite the same thing over and over again, especially in TvTs. So I try to end the game early with harass and stuff lol even though I know long macro games will help you with macro but mehh
