So, Ive been playing nwn1 for the last week or so, and I cant help but feel that im playing this game wrong. It just kills the whole concept of cRPG when im doing shit just to get more exp... but i cant help myself lol.
I want to be true to my class/alignment or at the very least, make my decisions make logical sense, but I just cant knowingly miss out on some exp. I play a damn druid but I dont use any summons, animal companions or henchmen cus they leech my exp -_-
Aside from the exp thing, I really want kill any strong guys in the realm whether it makes sense to kill them or not. I kind of justified this by saying my char likes to test himself against these guys. But obviously before I kill them, i need to do their quests to get exp . .
+ Show Spoiler + The latest episode was the green dragon who tells u to kill the Hill giants. So i go and kill the hill giants and finish the quest. The dragon thanks me for saving his egg and I ask him some questions about other dragons and what not, saying things like "Oh mighty dragon, could you share your wisdom with me?" Then I start a new conversation with him and say "Hey dragon! give me your treasure or I will slay you!" I kill him and take his egg.. although i duno what its for yet.
I dunno, maybe its not that big of a deal but I kinda got annoyed at the fact that i cant stop myself from doing this. I guess its called being a munchkin. Too much influence from mmo and jRPGs i think.
How do you guys like to play? Maximize your exp/rewards? Or put more emphasis on roleplay?

I used to play like this until I realized that you will inevitably miss out on some exp/items unless you're using a walkthrough. So now, I don't worry about it and just play in character. I still get a bit irked if I discover I missed something that I could have gotten while being in character, but in general, I just pick what my character would do, sometimes even deliberately missing out on stuff.

I like to roleplay, though sometimes in something like FF it's less about role playing and more about watching a series of events unfold before you
I only played a bit of NWN1, didn't know animal companions leech exp. They don't in NWN2, which I've been playing lately
Though sometimes I just have to help myself to that treasure chest inside some random guy's house. My Lawful good Ranger didn't think twice about robbing a church... I'll just pretend that never happened

lol yea those damn chests and crates. How can you not take whats in those if the people in the room dont react at all ;;;
I think in baulders gate, people will react if you take their shit right?

I play NWN and NWN2 like I play Diablo

you should play through the Hordes of the Underdark campaign then. it'll fit your style, and pretty much all RP decisions end up the same amount of xp.

You should join a Roleplay server online. You will be forced to act like your character/his alignment and his stats. Can make for some great gaming. Some of my best memories are roleplay orientated PvP. :D
I've been playing NWN online for so many years now :D. Easily the best rpg when it comes to character building.

it's extremely enjoyable to fight everything you ever find. Every single person I find that is not lawful good/ neutral good, I murder and cannibalize for xp.

+ Show Spoiler + so aparantly this gold dragon wants me to kil the ancient red dragon. I am on the way to kill the red dragon, but i dunno if i can resist killing the goldy after i finish this quest lol.... aopwiegaopj
I want to kill him right now actually just to see if his tough, but then i would miss out on his quest :/

stop murdering everybody ! But seriously go play hordes of the underdark, i played a lawful good cleric and had no problem getting to level 40 with godlike items while still retaining roleplaying.

I always play "in charcter", part of what makes it fun for me and makes it mmore fun to replay a game.
