So yeah, this isn't a league where A+ players will be playing.. for the most part it's going to be really low level players that attend my middle school in Seoul, Korea. The tournament is set up as a single-elimination team league, with 8 teams vying for the championship. Prizes are pizza and t shirts! 2 teams will play each day during lunch time at our computer lab, with 4 matches played simultaneously to conserve time. The matches are as follows:
1v1 Python
1v1 Match Point
2v2 Fastest Possible
1v1 Medusa ACE
Each of the matches are worth 1 point except the ACE match, which will be worth 2 points. The winner is the team that gets 3 or more points. As you can see from the inclusion of the noob-friendly Fastest $$$ MAP, I expect to have a wide variety of skill levels, with the best player probably at D+ level.
Now, as for the education aspect. I teach ESL so anything that ties in English is classified educational. So for the Cheongwon Starleague, I'm planning on having a youtube broadcast to recap the events at hand. I did the first one already to introduce the league; students will also participate as the league progresses. I'm going to link the video here in hopes that you, the great collective that is TL, can be the audience for this league. (The video is quite bad, bad sound and shitty lighting, I'm a youtube noob so.. yeah).
I'm not usually an attention whore, but for this situation I'll plug myself just a bit because I would like the students to feel like they have an audience watching. The first video is just me talking, but I plan on having replays and stuff as well. Please leave some comments for the kids and please be gentle! They're english nubs and I'd like to provide a kindly atmosphere for them.
=D So yeah that's what's up I'll update this OP as the league progresses. Please don't hate me for plugging myself, I would never do anything like this but my kids are so damn cute I can't help it hah. Plus it's a cause TL can rally around: Grassroots starcraft! At school! So thanks guys and happy starcrafting.
Edit: Day 1
No starcraft games on youtube yet though... ive been trying out this VHcapture for the past two days and i'm finally starting to figure it out. Next set of matches will have at least one game on youtube though.
I'm reallly noob at this video stuff.. but it's been an interesting learning process so far. Lots of trial and error. Next video will be better, promise
Day 2:
recorded my first game, but I had to redo it like 8 times cuz I'm noob at this... so I lost a lot of the excitement had when I first watched the game. Still, hilariously bad game.
Day 3:
Team Sexy Guys vs Team 얼짱
I'm getting a bit better at at least uploading the videos; i finished these 4 commentaries in 3 hours. Before, it took me a whole day just to record one
Ace match:
Day 4:
Team WInner vs Team Pizza
