None of their flavors do a good job of masking the awful malt liquor taste that lingers in your mouth. There are so many better options if your goal is to pregame. Just take two or three shots to get started; it's not a more expensive option by any significant margin, and a lot less painful. Four Lokos rank among the worst alcoholic beverages I've ever tasted, but at least they're better than Jungle Joose. Ugh... But they shouldn't be banned. Cmon guys, don't try Prohibition again. It doesn't work. Next thing you know they'll outlaw Jagerbombs. You're cool as long as the officer doesn't see you dropping a shot glass into your cup of Red Bull. JAGERBOMBS JAGERBOMBS JAGERBOMBS Everyone is right, they taste terrible. But I am a Four Loko aficionado and I will tell you the basics of my experience. 1) You buy the drink, thinking "tonight is going to be wild!" 2) You open it up in the comfort of whatever your pregame abode is 3) You sit there looking at it, thinking "man that doesn't sound good right now. 4) The first couple of sips ... disgusting. You feel a little sick when you've had about a tenth of it. 5) After half, you start feeling a little tipsy and it's a little more tolerable. 6) You can kill the rest easily because you're drunk at this point. And energetic. Nothing sounds better than hitting the club / parties and raging. 7) You go out, keep drinking. You feel a little buzzed but are also hammered. You talk to everyone, some cigarettes might help to keep it going for a while longer. 8) You dance the night away like a damn fool but have fun. 9) You review your mental inventory of all the girls you've seen/talked to that night and decide which is the best compromise of attractiveness / easiness etc. Try your best and if you fuck up just go home with your bros. But you probably won't fuck up because of the auspicious and amazing beginning to your night that makes everything else awesome. 10) Reflect the next day on how shitty you feel (hopefully you at least took some ibuprofen) but acknowledge you'll do it again, at least until exams or in my case, road bike racing season starts. (Riding 100km is a great way to kill the hangover). Not bad at all. I think alcohol is acceptably priced, but a $4 shot at a bar or a $5 mixed drink, or even a $1 draft special is less efficient than a $2 drink equivalent to 6 light beers and a cup of coffee. Even for a college student, that is about 10 or 15 minutes worth of paid wage labor.

And a regular beer can is 12oz. while a Four Loko is 24oz. So if we estimate a shitty light beer to be 4%, then it's exactly six light beers. Edit: Even if you consider a beer to be 6% which is around average for cheap beer it's 4.

Listening to the speaker at the courthouse was ridiculous and made me rage... here is essentially what she said. "These thing have as much caffeine as five sodas and the alcohol of five beers! I can't drink 5 sodas or 5 beers so it should be banned!" Who the hell cares what you can drink lady. The caffeine of five sodas would hardly faze me (hello 1.5 cups of coffee anyone?) and five "beers" she is talking about is five crappy cans of 3.5% junk which I'm pretty sure anyone who enjoys alcohol could do no problem. That being said I probably drink once a week on average in a low amount. I do not drink cheap beer and I do not drink 4loco -- I love me my good old german beers... which have about as much alcohol in them as a 4loco. Hell yeeeeah ![]() banning these things is as dumb as banning high alcohol content malt liquors and energy drinks. I don't like either one, but who the frick cares if you drink 4 shots of some crummy grain alcohol or 6 shots of vodka. I'll drink an occasional energy drink, but they're not my thing. That seems to be the argument folks use against 4loco. "I don't like it/can't drink it so it should be banned." Elitist political snobs.

A lot of people start drinking responsibly after they get over the fact of being able to buy alcohol. I agree it is the "parenting" but even if alcohol is yes-yes by the parents, which some are, it still causes problems by being too lenient. I hate seeing these goddamn cans littered everywhere though, glad to see it will stop for a few weeks at least..

I don't know where you live but I see much less Four Loko litter than beer can litter, in fact like less than 1% of it is Loko cans, but it doesn't matter because hobos bag them all to get a little cash. On November 24 2010 08:15 VonLego wrote: Some stupid 19 year olds "didn't know" there was alcohol in them and ended up in the hospital... now this? Hell yeeeeah ![]() Yes the old people who are making these decisions are horrific and degenerate excuses for human beings. I don't know how you can get into a position in life where you just make absurd rulings that affect the entire populace when you literally don't know jack shit about the issue. But I guess it's the populace who is responsible for voting in these insufferable douche bags. The sort of people who hold elected office in America sicken me, but I guess they're from the ranks of people whose decision making skills and logical reasoning ability would also sicken me. Edit: Yes it's like 5~6 or so light beers, tastes horrible, and has an extremely tolerable amount of caffeine. And I believe every case brought against the company is because parents or kids who drink it think it's exploitable because they can take advantage of the prevailing "don't let anyone sell anything that has any potential to hurt people if it's also fun and popular." So the courts and executives of the FBA buy into it. And the people who fucked up drinking too much get tons of media attention, perhaps money (I haven't read into it), and the FDA declares it to be unsafe and a threat to the populace. Bullshit.

I'm not a fan of the "politician by career choice" thing we have going on, but a tanget would be pretty rude to the OP and thread as a whole.

I will say German beer is good but I myself am a fan of the Belgian beers. I enjoy them a lot, but if I drank the same amount of alcohol strictly from Hoegaarden and Grey Goose I would be out of a home and education. Four Loko is so goddamn cheap it's ridiculous.
