Normally don't whine about this sort of stuff. It's one thing to say "We would like you to discuss this in a single thread." I don't think TeamLiquid would disagree with that. It's another to actively delete all references to an issue and pretend it never happened. That's what Blizzard is doing right now with the MLG downtime.

The above prompted me to ask this question:

Every thread on the Battle.net forums either referring to Battle.net's Sunday-afternoon instability or MLG's issues are being deleted outright. I can't find a single MLG discussion thread dedicated to the Dallas event on the first several pages of either General or Multiplayer Discussion.

Is it really too crazy for me to ask that Blizzard should just admit they goofed instead of deleting every reference and hoping this doesn't blow up within the Starcraft community?

Come on man, don't feed the fire. Yes, Blizz is cleaning up the trash threads like you said. Look a little closer, there is an MLG feedback thread in multiplayer/esports.

There is? Can't find one.

I can't say I don't understand though, the moderators there are probably so used to cleaning up trash threads that they got overzealous. There's not usually much of worth over there.

Yeah, I got a kick out of that. Probably got to that thread from my link.

I not only had to search for it, but it happened to be the discussion thread with the most benign take on the incident. It happens to be a "LAN Lag: MLG" thread that someone must have bumped. The first post in that thread was October the 18th.

There were plenty of good threads on the topic. It got completely aggravating because threads were being wiped faster than I could post in them. And that's saying something.

They dont have such power to do so.

Bnet forums have only one purporse for me: ask for tech support help.

I've been refreshing a whole bunch and not only have there been no new MLG threads, there have been no new threads period.
Maybe it's just an anomaly though, but why aren't more people posting? It's not like they can ban you for it.

edit: hey, there's a three-page thread... in technical support. lol

There's been problems with bnet at every single event in the US now. It's time they did more than delete threads and act like no lan is still a good idea

They could at least post a sticky saying 'hey guys don't post about it here go to that thread down in technical support for no real reason'.

who even cares about battle.net forums? i think its fine to have those for tech support if anything is wrong that requires contact to blizzard. But posting random trash talk like "as you could see on the example of mgl, lan mode is certainly required" is just pointless anyways. Do you seriously believe they don't know the downtimes and don't notice what goes on due to these downtimes? I don't think they need thousands of posts on the forums stating to them what they know anyways. So its just pointless to post stuff like that there.

And obviously, once a thread of yours gets closed, they will only close your further threads from you on the same topic over and over. Any forum moderation would do that, otherwise they wouldn't have felt the need to close your first thread. That has not even to do anything with the topic that is addressed. You keep opening threads about the same topic, so they keep deleting it because they decided the first time they don't want it. Repeated thread deletion is not censorship but completely normal moderating. So please all of you just stop flaming blizzard for something everybody does, just because it's a big company behind it and not a non profit community thing or something.

Please don't get me wrong though, its fine to voice your concerns. Just over-exaggerating the voicing part is plenty stupid and you should stop it. You have voiced it, they have noticed and deleted. So firstly, they know now. And secondly, well, yeah, they maybe ignore you. They are allowed to do that.

I'm not going to post on those forums right now. I like having that forum as a conduit. Why risk saying anything when the mods haven't taken their meds?

There's a difference between "we're aware of the problems, please direct all traffic to this particular topic and please remain civil" and "we don't need this incident harming consumer perception of the company so WITH YOUR POWERS COMBINED, I AM CAPTAIN DELETE BUTTON". Blizzard doesn't want this incident making headway. This company insisted to the universe that the lack of LAN functionality wasn't going to infringe on the most critical export of LAN, the tournament scene.

The true tragedy its the guy saying how it's weird that he got to "mid-high level diamond" but couldn't find the thread, like getting to mid-high diamond was some fantastic achievement everyone on the forum would just jaw drop at.

"omg did you hear about that guy who couldn't find the mlg thread"
"yeah what is surprising is I heard he was actually mid diamond... I guess they are mortal"
"actually he was mid-high"
"... is nothing sacred?!"
