Read the thread, I did. the ling/bling cleaned up 90% of his army, hence why I the whole muta vs rine/medvac situation happened in the first place.
Look, 95% of the time this isn't going to be an issue, but its just something that makes no sense, and should be fixed regardless.

You said you were left with your mutalisks, I assumed that they were elsewhere at the time, thus when you engaged why weren't your mutalisks there?
If they were there than why were your mutalisks the ONLY thing left?
Why didn't you use your drones (since you said it was near your minerals) or units that had just spawned (or did you stop macroing?)

I saw the dropships coming, sent my mutas and my lings back, engaged together instantly raping 90% of his units, at which point my lings were all dead, and my mutas couldn't do shit. ling/bling dies faster than mutas... then I had 1 operational hatchery making units.
It doesn't even matter. I'm done venting my anger about that game, now I'm just wondering why medvacs have priority.

I think its called mirco or morci or something. did you know that you can't see the marines to click on them if the other player tells his medivacs to group up above the marines? I.e the entire point of this post. Did you know you can shift the camera? Good call, never thought of that. Does anyone ever do that in-game?
I do it all the time to micro my DTs to kill marines inside the blob below the medivacs.

Because this is the new WoW blizzard and in WoW you kill the healer first.

In wow the healer doesn't have AOE taunt lol.

Wc3 tip incoming (works in SC2 also): If you want to micro units beneath a cloud of air units you have to use your scroll wheel so that your camera sees only units below the air. Or shift point of view with the home and end keys (i think).

I don't play ZvT so I don't know the situation very well, but in PvT when I need to snipe ghosts, I have to zoom in with the mouse wheel. I guess it's harder against marines since there's a lot more of them than ghosts, but if you queue focus fires on them, it might not be too bad.

people who do want to kill the marines? why not work with the stuff you are given?

New element of micro: If you don't want the AI to kill you, you must focus fire everything you want to kill. New priorities in patch:
Thors will prioritize ground over air. Tanks will not fire in areas where friendly fire from tanks will occur unless micro'ed to do so. Overlords will take priority over all zerg units. Banelings will take lowest priority.
Forget changing the PF, SCV, marine, Thor, and medivac priorities, it must be all other priorities that must be changed. For micro!

FOCUS FIRE
The only micro in SC2

And i imagine in a not too far future this thread in the Sc2 Strategy Forums:
[G]Camera Management in ZvT

Yeah he could have used the camera to angle his view better to focus fire the marines but I think what he was trying to say is, you shouldn't have to fight against the AI to get things done. Honestly, having medivacs as the priority is absolutely retarded and they better fix in the upcoming patch.
To those saying he should learn to micro, the AI should never be counter productive, at least to this extent.

Scroll wheel is your friend. Trying using it, same with tilt the camera to pick off the scvs behind the thor you cant click on

OR if all you have is mutas focus fire medivacs and marines die next..you'll lose like 3-4 mutas..maybe Talk about taking a dump on a blog with terrible attitude and advice lol
Back on topic, I never thought of using camera angles in-game for my advantage haha. I haven't really encountered a situation where I needed it but nevertheless interesting. It is pretty ridiculous that medivacs take priority though and should be addressed in the meantime.

I've advocated on and off "stacking" air units by putting them in a literal stack (now that we actually have 3D to work with) rather than the ridiculous 1700 overlords in 2 pixels of space you get now. (<-- This example is grossly exaggerated.) I mean, really, how else do you "justify" the air unit stack that happens in BW? I know it was a bug to begin with, but the potential justification is there just begging to be noticed.
Short version of the above: IMO the potential of having 3D was and is grossly underused.
|
How did priority work in BW? Wasn't it just unit attacking you > military unit > peons+spellcasters? It seemed to work pretty damn well... (I miss being able to use peons to block units from hitting during cheese defense.)
|
I'm sorry for your plight OP. I really think players should be able to customize the AI of units under their command. At the very least an option to switch between BW and SC2 AI would actually remedy some salient problems such as: units moving out of each others' way when not commanded to do so, melee units' auto-surround targeting enemy units that weren't originally targeted by the player, or wonky niche situations like this one.

allowing players to customize it would cause more imbalance complaints in my opinion. Blizzard just needs to change priority to attacking units, and buildings can be an exception, such as turrets, p fortress, etc..
