Kofi Kingston vs Dolph Ziggler
This match was okay. The only real problem I had with it was the finish. Why would you have Nexus come and interrupt this match that starts the show and sets the pace for the entire night? It does two things. It gives Nexus more heat which they would have gotten anyway later in the night. This interference didn't change anything. The other thing it did was kill some of Ziggler's credibility as the IC Champion. If I'm the casual wrestling fan that doesn't know of the backstage politics I would see that Ziggler can't win a match with the title. Overall, good match, poor finish.
Melina vs Alicia Fox
Wow. What can you say about a Diva's match these days other than boring. I'd rather watch the TNA Knockouts wrestle than this. Moving on.
Sheamus vs Randy Orton
It was an okay match. I don't really know why Randy Orton is getting all the pops these days but whatever. It was a good back and forth match with a few good false finishes. It wasn't the best match of the night but it was better than the two previous matches. I liked the RKO on the table. My only quip about that was that it didn't break it.
Kane vs Rey Mysterio
If they didn't have the Nexus match after this match, it would have been the highlight of SummerSlam. I was a bit skeptical with match. Two years ago, Kane and Rey were involved in a feud that ultimately went nowhere. This one was loads better. It won't win any "Match of the Year" awards but it was still a good tilt with Rey losing which is what I wanted to happen. Kane has been slaving for so long to have that Championship and I want him to keep it for a long time.
Of course the highlight of this match was the post-match. Predictably, the Undertaker came back and attack his brother which means that Kane was the one who injuried the Undertaker all along. Gasp. The best part about this whole segement was the fact that the Undertaker got chokeslammed by Kane, implying that he is weak.
Team WWE vs Nexus
Earlier in the night, the Miz said that he would join team WWE defeat the Nexus. He bragged about how he would defeat the Nexus and that the people would sing his praises not Cena's. The Nexus came out first looking like a cohesive unit. Cena was next, then Edge, the R-Truth, then Morrison, then Jericho and then Bret Hart.
The Miz's music hits and he is about to come down to the ring when Cena stops him. Cena says that he doesn't want a guy on his team who makes his decsion the night of the PPV. Instead he has found a suitable replacement. One who hates the Nexus as much as Cena and his team.
The 7th and final member of Team WWE is...
Daniel Bryan.
Ho-ly Shit.
I went completely nuts. How was this possible? Does this mean he has a contract? Who cares! It's Daniel F'n Bryan!
He starts off the match against Darren Young and no less than 60 seconds, Daniel Bryan has Darren Young in the Crossface? Even better. A homage to Chris Beniot.
I won't go into too much detail other than to tell you that it was Bryan and Cena vs Barrett and Gabriel at the end with the Miz costing WWE a fall. Super Cena still won the match with, wait for it, the STF. Surprise, surprise.
I thought this match was excellent. Again, it won't win MOTY, but it was very good and was the real reason why we all watched SummerSlam. I hope Daniel Bryan gets his due. Please WWE, don't screw this up. He is immensely talented and to let him go would be horrible.
I thought the "Biggest Party of the Summer" was good but it could have been better. What did you think? Out of ten, what would you score this PPV?
To all the people who clicked on this post to say "Wrestling is fake" you are wasting your breath.
And yes, Michael Cole had a hissyfit when Bryan came back. But who cares about Michael Cole?
