This blog series may contain spoilers just because I"m talking about missions which will invariable contain plot points I will avoid the storyline as much as possible but if you don't wanna see it don't read it

Also note some of these missions you'll be able to choose which order you do them in, the numbering on them is the order in which I did them.

for background see day 1 here: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=139386

days 2&3 here: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=140018

Current Progress:
Shows my progress but ignore the text at the top if you don't want to be spoiled on the ending.

Those last two achievements....

Anyways back to the missions.

Mission 21: Piercing the Shroud

Okay so I figured how to kill the brutalisk on brutal without losing a unit I saved right before I released him because it took me a few tries but heres how I did it:

Still a fucking pain in the ass so don't underestimate this, I asked Matt for 8 more marines then I intentionally didnt kill the ghost all the way on the left side of the room. When you release the brutalisk the ghost shoots it and he runs straight for the ghost.

Split your forces so raynor is on the beacon by himself a few medics behind and all the marines all the fuck behind him. Throw as many grenades and plasma gun shots at it as you can before he starts meleeing raynor then set all the marines on it. He'll stay on raynor for a while who can take quite a few hits thanks to the medics. Once he stops and stutters that means he's going for hte marines so pull them all back and plasma gun him again. This should get his attention back on raynor then put the marines back on him. Repeat this process as many times as needed.

It took me about 5 god damn times to find the last weapon pickup for the achievement too. When you're running away the hallway that splits in 2 parts and has the last protoss artifact on the bottom part. Right when it splits if you go all the way north through a small doorway theres a rift gun ammo there. So send a marine after it if you're in trouble and he'll sacrifice himself for the good of the raiders or for the good of achievement whoring. This mission sucked on brutal it was a bitch but I beat it so it's my bitch now.

Mission 22: The Moebius Factor

This ones pretty much easy enough if you just go straight marine and medic. If you wan't achievements though... I hope you got the hercules research cuz it made it so much easier. The hercules carries so many units can take a metric asston of hits from spore crawlers and unload them all nearly instantly. Fly the hercules around to pick up all the extra forces merge them with your m&m ball and you should rape the brutalisk up the ass. The first core you can even take out as soon as the devil dogs join you load them all up land on the cliff with the guys asking for health and power it down from the high ground.

Keep making m&m and hercules the massive ball to the next core, leave some forces behind or all the extra forces you pick up because your base will need some defense so make sure you have a decent bio ball there.

Power down the core then take your bioball and stim all the way over to the third core. If you killed it fast enough and didnt lose too many units you can just fight your way there on the ground before she takes out a 6th building. Once you're there stim and focus the core down pretty easysauce mission. M&M makes everything so easy with combat shields stim and the medic upgrades.

Mission 23: Supernova

This one sucked... hard. I made some banshees and vikings just for support but the main work was done by guess what.. bio ball! zzzzz Theres a few storms at the end so dodge dodge or focus them with the banshees before anything else can hit them and you'll be fine.

Oh fun note about the achievement for not losing a unit to the fire wall... Buildings count apparently I had to stop and kill my refineries and addons in order to get this achievement it kinda sucked. As for the banshee one well just get a metric ass ton of banshees and cloak take out all the bases you can including all the cannons on the cliffs around the edges of the map and you should get it no problem. Or just sit at the final base and farm a gateway while it spawns units either or.

Like so many other missions this one frustrated me until I made a bio ball... then it was easy zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Mission 24: Maw of the Void

Okay so this one kinda sucked but I made literally as many battlecruisers as I could with some viking support and a small army of science vessels. Use the dark templars to sneak around and pick up all the pallets and resource pickups then just park them in a chokepoint and let them take out all the ground units sent to your base. The vikings + science vessels will take out any air while the mass battlecruisers hopefully with +3 ship weapons kill all the rip field generators.

Fly back to the science vessels periodically to get healed or send back lone battlecruisers that are getting close to the red. Funny story I lost about 5 units in the rip field but apparently if a unit kills them and not the rip field you still get the achievement lol... So if you know you're not gonna be able to get a unit out before it dies just shoot it.

Oh yeah... STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THE MOMMYSHIP it's a bitch on brutal fucking ow not only does it hit hard it has a metric ass ton of shields and health but it will also vortex you and summon carriers and scouts. Thers no time limit on this one so just wait for it to go the fuck away. It will teleport in when you hit the vault so take out as much of the rest of the protoss base as you can so you can just power down the vault when you're ready.

Mission 25: Ghost of a Chance

Oh yeah I forgot to do Nova's mission... right okay I don't even need to write much here. It was pretty easy whenever you see a raven dominate it and kill it. Use snipe as much as possible especially on spectres it's free. First part should be super easy though if you can save one of the battlecruisers at the end it will help you take out the rogue turrets around the map. I'm not sure if you have to kill all the buildings as well as units for the achievement so I played it safe.

The next part is a little tougher just slowpush with your tanks nuke the huge force of units in front of the tank without hitting the tank clean up the rest of the forces. That spectre in the left corner? Take out the turrets protecting the island to the north of it then just HSM him then put an auto turret down to kill the turret. Not too tough.

Last part of this level was LOLMODE don't forget the units to the northeast of your starting location for the achievement then dominate the tank. Use siege to take out all the turrets then have a lot fun, dominate the raven whenever you see them etc etc. Then on the very bottom if you kill the destructable thing an ultra will run out and kill the huge mass of dominion forces or most of them. But continue to the very bottom right....

THOR IS HERE! There was a rock party in my cockpit when I dominated him and proceeded to steamroll the rest of the mission with the thor. Grab the nuke same story as before nuke the huge mass of forces but not the objective and take out rogue turrets just in case you need them for the achievement and done. This one was pretty easy, reminded me of some of the oldschool BW missions in the installations but much more fun playing with dominate ^^

Mission 26: Gates of Hell

Okay so this one guess what I did... take a wild guess...

Yep you're right I made a bio ball.. hardest part about this mission was finding the last spore cannon it's up to the northeast west of the area where the general took TERRIBLE TERRIBLE DAMAGE.. *facepalm* Anyways to get the drop pod mission I reccomend you cheat on this mission play it through once and learn where they all land then in the start of the mission before you have zerg pouring in from every direction just put a single marine in every landing zone for drop pods.

As soon as the drop pod lands the forces will be yours you'll lose most of the units but it's fine you can win the missino with just bio anyway just be careful of banelings. Besids at the end when 2 drop at a time when you save one the zerg will wipe out the other one so this is basically the only way to get that achievement. Again pretty easy m&m too imba with armory upgrades.

Mission 27: Belly of the Beast

This one was god damned easy practice on the first one with shatter round and the shredder grenade. Get used to hitting f2 f3 f4 to get raynor tychus or swann to drop their abilities quickly and you already have this mission down. Just be very careful the nerd heals very well way better than a medic so don't get in over your head drop a turret whenever theres a huge mass of units and you'll be fine.

After the first charge you'll hit a room that has a ton of infested with only like 1 or 2 infested marines. This is where I got the one shot 50 kills achievement save right beforehand and run raynor in by himself so nobody steals any kills. Run a bit to the left and let them get really close and fire straight south you'll get ~45-52 kills so you'll have to load it and try it again a few times until you get lucky and get 50 kills with it. Continue the level normally not very hard when you're in the nydus worm corridor dropping turrets behind you is helpful.

At the end fighting the boss I actually spent the first part taking out as many eggs as I could with a turret defending the charge. This helped a TON as the queen ran out of eggs to htach make sure you always have a turret down, let swann tank until he's hurtnig then swap him for tychus. She should die easily especially if you saved the marines earlier and have a ton of marines from earlier. This one was fun because it was very micro intensive but still rather easyish.

The final part where you're running away is pretty hard if you don't have many units left so try not to lose units carelessly.

Mission 28: Shatter the Sky

ZZZZZZZ Bio ball, really don't have much more to say. Clear out one of the bases expand quickly make an asston of m&m max out win. I even took out the leviathan with bio boooooring, I really should play this through again and make myself not use bio eventually because it really makes it way too easy.

Mission 29: ALL IN

Okay so I was a bastard here, I saved my Energy Nova until it does the mass overlord drop. I spammed marines at both chokepoints just to delay those as long as possible and literally spent ALL of my gas on Hive mind emulators.

I had about 6 on each chokepoint into the base, about 20 on the high ground next to the artifact and about another 6 behind my mineral line. Keep spamming marines and continue to mind control every single mutalisk that you can. Getting brood lords is helpful too because the broodlings will buy you time against ground units.

L.... O..... L....

In case you didn't believe that was on brutal.

As you can see once I got a completely stupid number of mutalisks and broodlords I sacced my base and just defended the artifact until the end. Kerrigan dies so fast it's not even funny just watch out for her super psi storm and let allt he broodlings and mutas rape her face. I only had to energy nova once on the mass drops as I didnt have the time to make mass turrets.

Lesson learned: Hive mind emulator == LOL

And with that I'm pretty much done I"m too lazy to go back and get that stupid achievment about matt winning in poker and same with the normal in under 8 hours zzz.

Campaign was a ton of fun, and now I get to actually play mutliplayer now.

Just as an FYI there is a lab doodad you can juke behind and solo him with Raynor. It's immediately to the right side of the entrance to his room.

I actually got the mind emulator as opposed to the slow thing, like the science vessel/raven upgrade I managed to completely forget about them and never built a single one. M&M is absurdly easy to use and I used them almost exclusively except where impossible (like the ghost/spectre mission; that xelnaga field shield mission you had to survive with something tanky like battlecruisers).

If I hadn't forgotten about it though, it wouldn't have taken me 5 tries to beat the final mission.

Haha, you did it the hard way! Much easier to just use the combat walker from before to do it, you can easily clear those units without the walker, you also get a hidden achievement for doing that.

The entire point of this whole thing is to play it on Brutal and to do it the hard way gettting the achievements on brutal that you can get on normal etc

Um, what I mean is that it is easier to kill the brutalisk with the combat walker, even on brutal. It barely loses any health doing it. And you don't need the walker to clear out the room before, the only problem is the thor but killing a thor is much easier than killing a brutalisk. 2 plasma shots and bam.

I didn't really get any mercs except the vikings as those can be rather helpful.

Researches I went:

Armory:

Starships: vikings do aoe and get bonus range, banshee cloak uses less energy

Vehicles: Both hellion upgrades, goath range upgrades + being able to shoot both at once, diamondback range, and both tank upgrades

Infantry: Both marine upgrades, both medic upgrades, concussive shells on marauders

Base: Everything

Try the Nydus Worm Final mission. It's the only mission I could NOT beat for a while. Admittedly, I was trying to beat it using Nova only ONCE for the first 10 or so tries. I couldn't do it, there are just so many fucking units that come through that nydus and they come everywhere, and they keep coming if you don't kill them. After saying "fuck it, I'll just play it normally and use Nova when I have to" it still took me around 3 tries. I never used the hive mind emulator once though in any mission :-/. Nor did I have either bunker upgrades, which would have helped. Ended up making around 10 bunkers wiht around 10 siege tank support at each choke (so like 20 total), but Kerrigan just raped me so hard with siege tanks doing only like 20 dmg per shot to her.

Mind emulators help you when you steal ultras to buffer while you rebuild bunkers. They also keep the mission a little fun so you don't quit from rage. At one point i stole 5 ultras and started taking out nydus wurms for a bit.

That's really lame that you didn't get credit for that one Supernova achievement, because I left behind all of my non-floatable buildings and unlocked it all the same.

Nice job. I agree totally on the mindcontrol towers, broodlords, ultras, even spare mutas to bolster air hehe. I shoulda made way more in hindsight, but its pretty funny, at some point I hotkeyed them all and started going around spamming C on anything that moved in range.

As for super nova, they either fixed it, or it may have been buggy in general. I got the achievment without killing my refineries, I'm pretty sure. Then again I had to do it twice because I didnt get the (kerrigan portrait 29 ach) credit for it the first time. Even thought It had my brutal time etc.

I just need the piercing shroud one, as I missed it. Good thing I read the thread about unsaved folder etc, was about to restart the campaign to unlock >< hehe

I got the brutal Brutalisk achievement in Piercing the Shroud using the machine they give you a bit prior to the reinforcement terminal. Doing the room where the machine is first usable is easy if you use all the explosives to take most of your problems out.
