Priorities.. the surgery to fix this isnt guaranteed to remove the bump, and it's a cosmetic surgery, so insurance might not cover it. The ligaments in my shoulder that attach to my collar bone are damged, it sticks up a good inch or two at normal, can make it poke up more if I move my arm/shoulder certain ways and it's still doesn't want to move/do some things and sometimes does it awkwardly. But it's only been a month, maybe it'll get better. i have the same injury. it'll go back to 100% in 2-3 months. the only reason i still remember it happened is when i try to sleep on my left side, since the injury makes a minor discomfort after a while.

My mother got hit by a car and she had a hairline fracture on her leg, and she got around 25 thousand. An injury like yours with a good lawyer should've gotten you a lot more then a new civic.

The shoulder injury does suck, did you launch a lawsuit against him for medical damages? The good thing is that you are alive.

(or until I got thousands of dollars to blow away on a shoulder reconstruction surgery) Seriously? I won't be suprised when I look where you are from to see America :/ Don't you have an insurance or something? Edit: i read that your insurance might not cover it. Uhm, might? Figure out if they will cover it. No harm in them giving a call.

Maybe, but even if he does the insurance may or may not cover the surgery. That, or if they think you can't afford a lawyer will just deny you even if they cover it. Welcome to America

Isn't there a consumer authority you can call about this if it happens?

There is a large case in court right now with hundreds (thousands?) of people who were denied coverage for stupid reasons, like they didn't tell the insurance company they had acne as a teenager (LMAO EVERYONE DOES) so the company denied them payment for things unrelated to acne. The insurance plan didn't even cover acne, so it wouldn't have mattered. Or a woman who didn't fill out paperwork correctly 10+ years ago. They knew she didn't fill it out correctly, but they didn't bring it up until she was sick and they had to pay out. So... they got 10 years worth of payments and didn't give anything back. One company had a program that they ran every time a woman wanted the insurance to cover their breast cancer. It tried to find any mistake and drop the coverage for the breast cancer treatment so the women had to sell their cars\houses\savings to pay for it. If the OP has chronic pain from the injury, insurance companies will probably call it a "preexisting condition" and refuse him coverage or refuse to pay for that specific injury. Insurance companies regularly deny claims over a certain amount, say 10,000$. Then you have to call and bitch at them and wait for paperwork to prove you aren't trying to rip them off. At the same time, claims under that amount are usually automatically granted. Doctors charge 100$ for cotton swabs, needles, things that really don't cost that much because the insurance company doesn't have the time or resources to investigate every single claim. Many of these insurance companies have monopolies in certain places. Bottom line, US health insurance is inefficient and shitty. Edit: maybe they will have to pay the claimants, but most of the people who get ripped off don't even know it. Even if the procedure the insurance companies used is legal, anyone from the outside looking at it would probably consider it a dick move. If you don't read fine print you'll never know what is covered\not covered. Even if you read it, they can change your plan whenever they want (maybe they have to notify you, I don't know). So long as they make more money from using illegal\legal but immoral methods than they lose in lawsuits, they will continue to do it. They will never be shut down because Obama's healthcare bill makes it law they you must buy healthcare from private insurers unless you qualify for limited government plans.
