I absolutely think your guy got off easy. I dunno much about the guy, but that punishment is maybe stiff enough for him to make a change. Everyone is different though... I'd be willing to bet that people who get DUIs while driving with a DUI-revoked license are slow learners. Is that a Civic or Accord? Hard to tell at this angle, I'd guess Civic. It's nice!

If you can still use your hands properly, you should be fine. Think positive, you propably wouldn't gotten car for a long time without him.

i've always been one of the firm believers that dui should be treated the same as attempted murder, because how is it not, really people in this town get in 0 trouble for it until they do it a ton of times and even then it's not bad, i always hope they'll only kill themselves but it never works out that way

Think positive, you propably wouldn't gotten car for a long time without him. oh it wasnt on purpose. well I guess I can just run over people if its only about doing it on purpose (aka murder / manslaughter) man looks pretty serious, can you move your shoulder properly with a clavicle like that? Anyways, hopefully he'll learn from this. I dont think there are many people who are able to just ignore a serious accident like that, I'm sure he was shocked too. So try not to be too grudgeful, more punishment for him isn't gonna help you (unless it means money for you ^^) Then again, he really must be a complete fucking moron. I hope you'll be able to have a successful shoulder surgery eventually. My brother had one some months ago, after he had broken his clavicle. It all worked out very well.

I'm going to agree with you 100%. Drunk driving is asinine. If an adult is too inconsiderate, stupid, self-absorbed, ignorant, etc. etc. to realize that drinking and driving is an easily preventable, serious offence that can cause harm to the community, they deserve a far greater punishment that what this tool received. There is no excuse for drinking and driving these days. Everyone knows the rules, everyone knows the potential outcomes. The stats for alcohol-related driving injuries are staggering. The only reason shit like this continues is because the punishments are paltry and offenders have little to worry about. I'd be furious. I'd want this prick to spend time in jail; pay for surgery, pay for damages, and pay for their own stupidity.

The problem with DUI's is that's it's a damn crime that knows no social lines. Every culture circle does it. This means that it's very lucrative for lawyers to fight them because rich people try their damndest to not have a DUI on record. Just for sake of comparison a DUI report is on average 9 pages... a typical aggravated assault is only about 2 pages. Our justice system is fucked.

Lately however they are starting to treat an accident caused by DUI driving as manslaughter so offenders are getting a much bigger sentence. I'm not sure about the severity of your injury but I would have taken the surgery. If needed I would even have taken a loan for it if needed. It will benefit you in the rest of your life I think and most likely will greately increase your chances of being accepted into the military. Anyway good luck.

he fucking destroys your fucking clavicle and leaves you fucked up for life, which will affect your job situation and your confidence just walking around and trying to live a normal life... and the worst things that happen to him is... honestly, 5 years of suspended license and a 1000 fee??? that is bullshit. fucking death penalty that son of a bitch. but then again, i'm unreasonable biased against people being irresponsible. there's a lot of other worse things that don't get me as much, but when people are irresponsible and hurting other people, that just lights my fuse really bad.

The worst is when cops break up a party and force hundreds of teens to drive home, most of them drunk. I've seen it happen so many times here it makes me sad. ![]()

They would have driven home eventually anyway most of them being even more drunk. If you are drinking it's your own responsibility to find an alternative way home. If you go to a party by car ALWAYS make sure you have a designated driver who stays sober.

![]() Yeah, the punishment your guy had was pretty minimal (since he did injured a lot of people) Man, America's not that strict I guess. for a shoulder that's scarred for life versus a Honda Civic... hhhhmmmmm pretty hard to choose between the two ![]()

The ligaments in my shoulder that attach to my collar bone are damged, it sticks up a good inch or two at normal, can make it poke up more if I move my arm/shoulder certain ways and it's still doesn't want to move/do some things and sometimes does it awkwardly. But it's only been a month, maybe it'll get better. i have the same injury. it'll go back to 100% in 2-3 months. the only reason i still remember it happened is when i try to sleep on my left side, since the injury makes a minor discomfort after a while.

My mother got hit by a car and she had a hairline fracture on her leg, and she got around 25 thousand. An injury like yours with a good lawyer should've gotten you a lot more then a new civic.

The shoulder injury does suck, did you launch a lawsuit against him for medical damages? The good thing is that you are alive.

(or until I got thousands of dollars to blow away on a shoulder reconstruction surgery) Seriously? I won't be suprised when I look where you are from to see America :/ Don't you have an insurance or something? Edit: i read that your insurance might not cover it. Uhm, might? Figure out if they will cover it. No harm in them giving a call.

That, or if they think you can't afford a lawyer will just deny you even if they cover it. Welcome to America This happens?? Won't they be in big trouble once it comes out? Isn't there a consumer authority you can call about this if it happens? There is a large case in court right now with hundreds (thousands?) of people who were denied coverage for stupid reasons, like they didn't tell the insurance company they had acne as a teenager (LMAO EVERYONE DOES) so the company denied them payment for things unrelated to acne. The insurance plan didn't even cover acne, so it wouldn't have mattered. Or a woman who didn't fill out paperwork correctly 10+ years ago. They knew she didn't fill it out correctly, but they didn't bring it up until she was sick and they had to pay out. So... they got 10 years worth of payments and didn't give anything back. One company had a program that they ran every time a woman wanted the insurance to cover their breast cancer. It tried to find any mistake and drop the coverage for the breast cancer treatment so the women had to sell their cars\houses\savings to pay for it. If the OP has chronic pain from the injury, insurance companies will probably call it a "preexisting condition" and refuse him coverage or refuse to pay for that specific injury. Insurance companies regularly deny claims over a certain amount, say 10,000$. Then you have to call and bitch at them and wait for paperwork to prove you aren't trying to rip them off. At the same time, claims under that amount are usually automatically granted. Doctors charge 100$ for cotton swabs, needles, things that really don't cost that much because the insurance company doesn't have the time or resources to investigate every single claim. Many of these insurance companies have monopolies in certain places. Bottom line, US health insurance is inefficient and shitty. Edit: maybe they will have to pay the claimants, but most of the people who get ripped off don't even know it. Even if the procedure the insurance companies used is legal, anyone from the outside looking at it would probably consider it a dick move. If you don't read fine print you'll never know what is covered\not covered. Even if you read it, they can change your plan whenever they want (maybe they have to notify you, I don't know). So long as they make more money from using illegal\legal but immoral methods than they lose in lawsuits, they will continue to do it. They will never be shut down because Obama's healthcare bill makes it law they you must buy healthcare from private insurers unless you qualify for limited government plans.
