Up until the end of 2009 or so, I had faith in Blizzard. Quite a bit, actually. I would say things like "Everything Blizzard touches turns into gold" and "Is SC2 going to be good? Of course, it's fucking Blizzard!". And I meant everything I said too. Growing up, Blizzard games were a big part of my life as a PC gamer, so you could say they had a special place in my heart. For the longest time, I thought Blizzard was "special", that they were the shining light in an industry plagued with mediocrity. I was under the impression that Blizzard really cared about their games, and most importantly, cared about the fans that continued to support them throughout the years.
Like I said, this was up until the end of 2009 or so. It's frightening how much of a heel turn my perspective on Blizzard has taken this past couple of months, but that's precisely what ended up happening. Lack of LAN, battle.net 2.0, the game itself... mild annoyances at first, but it all started adding up. I think the whole IP controversy was the point I finally came to the realization that Blizzard in its current incarnation is an entirely different company to the one I knew, loved, and grew up with. Now I realize just how gullible I've been, and I somehow feel like I've been betrayed.
I guess you could say I'm a bit... confused nowadays. A large part of me hopes that Blizzard proves me wrong, that they find a way to renew my faith in them. A smaller part of me already knows this isn't going to happen.
I'll chime in with a few other posters in saying that if they end up killing the BW scene, I'm going to be pissed off like you wouldn't believe. yea man, betrayal is the first word that comes to mind now when i think of blizz
edit: you know what my stupid one liner doesnt do ur post justice, your post was beautiful. Everything u said I was like "OMG THATS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL" gj man, i feel like somebody just took a load off of my chest

Agreed, i'm not buying sc2 now because of blizzard's increasing trend towards short term money making endeavours. The company has changed alot since it was bought off vivendi. If they kill the BW esports scene I will never give them another cent and push for others to do the same.

I think we should blame activision. They bought blizzard, and they're the ones behind guitar hero and WoW. I'm still getting my sc2 though

Definitely preordering from TL =). Even if bnet2.0 somehow doesn't get fixed up, it's still a really fun game and the ums/custom maps will be awesome.

I'm still buying Starcraft 2.

Blizz needs to get out of their own little bubble and realize that it is the community and players that made what e-Sports is today. Not because Blizzard made the game, Blizzard made e-Sports and should have the right to control it.

I'm addicted.
Love sc2

I'm not sure that I even want to buy Starcraft 2 anymore. Maybe next year? Beta was as boring as Warcraft 3. It was only fun for about a day or so. And all these things that Blizzard is doing to try to make more money off Starcraft 2... just feels so lame. At least there is Diablo 3 to look forward to.

When blizzard north left, so did the magic. I don't know if I should buy the game or not. I actually hate Blizzard/Activison.

I am definitely buying Starcraft 2, it's a fucking amazing game
Haters gonna hate

I`ve just ordered it through TL. Whether or not I buy it will not affect their policy, and I find the game very entertaining. You guys should relax a little and enjoy the nice weather outside or something.
The "OMG Blizzard is looking for a profit" argument is silly. It`s a freaking Giant Corporation, not your personal fluffy bunny of friendship. Of course they are going to try to make money off the game.

I think I speak for my 9 rl friends who haven't been discouraged by the beta and are still keeping their pre-orders, along with myself.
We've been having quite a good time with the beta.

Haters gonna hate Ppl aren't hating on sc2, they're hating on blizzard for taking over esports (which will cripple it) and destroying korean BW. I agree it's a good game but not worth buying if we're going to go back to the dark ages with no televised pro-teams. Samsung, skt1 and co. are not gonna support some shitty webcast GoM league that charges for HD.
