I wish I had gone to some before, but my family isn't wealthy at all and I didn't have money for tickets myself when I was younger. I'm turning 19 this year, so it could be worse, but there's been a lot of big artists that have come here to Kelowna that I've missed.

Why is this Rustymike?

I'll admit that I couldn't go to ha full night of house/trance music because to me it never feels like you reach the high gears. Not compared to Hardcore/Freeform/Breaks anyway.

...but some of deadmau5 tunes are breathtaking!

Well, his tunes are imo very predictable and far away from the standards that other artists put out with every release. And for second he has openly stated that it is all about the money for him.

I went to see him here in Sweden the 12th of May. I was really impressed by his lighting and visual show, especially the Mask-stuff

You're gonna have a great time

Well if it's your first concert you are up for an awesome night! Live atmosphere is something you need to experience, makes the songs so much better. And Deadmau5 brings along a nice visual show as well to round it up.

But tbh I was a little dissapointed when I saw him live. To me he lacks a bit in the variation. If you hear the first 30mins, you know what to expect for the rest of the evening. But on the other hand he is damn good at what he brings, so that should make for a hell of a night. Enjoy!

I am a huge electronic music aficionado, and while I agree that 98% of Deadmau5's tunes are unadulterated crap, he has also produced some tracks that are absolutely perfect and amazing (Ghosts, Strobe, Brazil). This is enough to make him good artist in my book.

You say there are other artist releasing similar but much better work, I would LOVE to listen to them! Do you have any other suggestions?
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

I remember seeing him back in 2007 at the Warehouse in Calgary (the best god damn club there ever was in this city, until it got shut down), before he really got big. Then again in 2009 at Flames Central, and probably will see him on both the 6th and the 7th because I have two separate groups of friends going to each one. Deadmau5 live is pretty worth it because generally the visuals/lights are sweet and he has a really sick live setup. Monome 256, Lemur, Korg everythings, Xone 4D, Mac Book Pro's running Ableton, etc. His massive digital interface really allows for anything to happen. Back at Flames Central, the giant nerd finished the night with Keyboard cat. What the fuck lol.

His older productions were better, the stuff he's churning out now is old and stale. "Some Chords" is actually a pretty terrible track, it's the same three chords over and over again.

Well the first one that comes to mind is Christian Smith, he absolutely slays in the scene at the moment. His remix of Carl Cox At Les is being released 24th May and it is definitely in my top10 tunes for this year.

Julius Best, Mistiquemusic label, Cocoon Recordings, Toolroom Records (Mark Knights agenda), Silk Digital Records, Joris Voorn are a few examples that come to mind really quick Not exactly same type of dirty-electroish stuff that Deadmau5 puts up but at least more on the progressive side.

I quess I'm one of the few that hasnt jumped on the French-Electro (Boyz noise, Justice, Kavinsky and such) bandwagon, but Danger is my only exception, hes god tier.

Those guys are a bit too far over into the progressive scene for me to really enjoy, I need more melody and variation....Incognet is about as far as I can get into the progressive genre

I do love some of Danger's stuff, but his more recent releases I haven't liked much...

Oh okay, my bad. I thought that you were searching some more minimal stuff on the melodic side I'm also a melodic head myself, started listening to uplifting trance around ~2000 and been listening since. To my surprise the progressive genre exploded in 2009, so heres a few recommendations from me on the melodic side of prog

As I mentioned earlier Mistiquelabel is massive (Michael & Levan, Moschic, Kay-D, Shane, Domased Electronica etc. etc.)
Silk Royal Recordings
Jetlag Digital
Unreleased Digital
Natura Sonoris

Rennie Foster - Falling Skyward (Kaito Remix)
Kaito is probably my favourite artist at the moment.

Yes it is mate, he uses Fruityloops/FL Studio and I think the demo content in there is done by him.

He also made a song called Arguru - a tribute to one of the main developers of Fruityloops who died in a car crash..

Trance is already the most formulaic music there is, and Deadmau5 is somehow even more generic and boring. He's got one good song on the new album -- Ghosts n' Stuff is pretty meh, so no, not that -- and it's on the radio. Also, he's an arrogant jackass. Listen to good Trance, bros.
