Even though my record is 45-35, I do not mind because I am improving. Wish me luck! On my way to 1700.
p.s. What "skills" should a person have by the time he/she reaches 1700, to be considered a true 1700 player? is 1700 a pretty good rating?

It kind of concerns me when you go back and look at the significant skill jumps between ranks in iccup and then you look at sc2 :/ "its beta" etc

On the skills thing, I don't really know, as I haven't played much SC2. Being on the same level as the other people with rating around 1700 would imo make you a true "1700-player", while cheesing your way to 1700 without winning a single standard-play game would not (not that I think you will, I'm just saying). Good luck! cheese isn't imbalanced, besides most 1700's would be able to fend off cheese from another 1700

I've only played on iccup for a couple of years, but I've heard people saying a current C- player would be atleast B rank in the early stages of iccup.

Cheesing every game still doesn't make you as good as someone who rarely or never cheeses - people who climb the ranks by becoming better through lots of games played and increasing experience in the game. I once taught a friend of mine who'd never played Brood War before how to 5pool on Blue Storm, and he managed to get to mid D+ before he lost. It still didn't make him good, or even close to D+ level. Had he tried his best to play a standard game, he would surely lose to almost all the D-'s out there, because he didn't know anything about the game except how to do a 5pool.

Either way very gj, I need to find the time to get up and break 1500 still I dont think they do. I think the bonus points help you get to your actual skill level (that is, if you are a 1700 skill player, the bonus points will help you get there faster), but won't really cause point "creeping" as you mention. However, if new players join, a 1700 player's skill may now allow him/her to achieve a higher rating. So, achieving a 1700 during beta will very likely be much easier (or more difficult, depending) than after release. I think the psuedo point "creeping" we tend to see just happens when players haven't played enough games for the game to properly gauge their level. There are wide variances in rating within the intial few games (like the first 50+) that will likely stabalize with time. If you've seen ratings creep up, I'm sure you'll also see some players who were intially placed too high whose points go down, even given the bonus pool.

Hey pokebunny, iono if you remember but i'm muFC[wD] lol I remember when you were in wD ;O and BlasiuS I don't think i'm good enough to BM lol. For some reason I get matched up faster when I reached 1500 compared to when I was around 1100~1300. And as for my game logic, sadly i'm the type of player that has to play multiple games just to get a concept down so it takes me awhile to get the "know-how." Also I feel that my multitask isn't up to par yet so that definitely is an area that needs huge work lol. any tips on how to improve it besides just grinding games? do you guys have like a system of when to macro? I try to apply what a clan-mate told me in SC1: "Before you go into battle you macro up some units. When you are in battle and it looks like you're going to win, go back and macro. If it looks like you might lose the battle, retreat and macro while retreating." It's so difficult trying to apply that past the 15~minute mark lol. But thanks for the support! It'll definitely help when im trying to grind games lol

You really notice an increase in skill from 1700 on though, T and P start having tight builds that will obliterate you as Z if you don't know certain timings, and their mechanics start being pretty good.
