GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP — Members of the Wellington County OPP are investigating a sexual assault that occurred on the western outskirts of the city of Guelph.
Police responded Wednesday at approximately 7 a.m. to a home on Shadow Drive, just north of Highway 124 in Guelph-Eramosa Township.
Several cruisers, unmarked police cars and the forensics unit van lined the sleepy, heavily wooded dead-end street while a number of officers and investigators worked their cellphones.
Yellow crime scene tape marked the perimeter of the large property.
Three tactical officers and a tracking dog searched neighbouring homes along Shadow Drive and Highway 124.
Sergeant Keith Robb, Wellington County OPP spokesperson, said police “are searching for someone on foot.”
The forensic van backed its way along the drive toward the house at approximately 10 a.m. and an investigator could be heard requesting items from inside the house to be taken as evidence.
He wouldn’t say whether the victim knew the person who allegedly committed the assault.
Robb said police do not have anyone in custody nor do they have a suspect.
When asked if people in the immediate area should be concerned and lock the doors to their home, Robb would only say “people should always lock their doors even when they’re home, day or night.”
Robb said more information regarding the investigation will be available later this afternoon.

No, I'm not a suspect. But I know this person. And I hope the cops catch the shithead that did it.
