So basically I'm putting this in the blog because I want to keep it relatively low key for now. (I seriously didn't expect the micro thing to get so big, it made me scared for bit haha , but all good, I loved the support you guys gave)
You may remember me from Project Micro on the SC2 Forums. Basically I have just begun development of a series of mods. Micro Mod (Project Micro), Fun Mod, and Sound Mod.
Micro Mod changes way units attack. It deals mostly with move speed and acceleration, attack delay and attack method.
Fun Mod deals with a wider range of things. Mostly unit weapons, abilities, graphics, and stats. It attempts to balance out Micro Mod, but also improve on a lot of things that may have disappointed some about SC2, and most of all, to make adjustments which hopefully will make the game more fun to play and watch.
Sound Mod will basically be Zelniq's sound pack implemented into SC2.
Because they are mods and not maps, the mods can be applied to any map as long as the map links to it. I will apply the mod to a couple of my favorite custom SC2 maps and upload them, however applying the mod on your own is very easy.
Blizzard would never make drastic changes to SC2, simply because the players are so fickle about balance. With the fun mod, I will ignore most whiny complaints about balance and make changes as I see fit. The focus will be on fun mechanics, and fun gameplay, not balance. By drastic I don't mean implementing micro, by drastic I mean changing units completely.
Every week or so there will be a patch update, where you guys can advise or rage about the changes. Then there will be releases every few patches. I hope that mods will work in Beta, but if not, it should definitely be available on release.
Once this is up to a playable level, then I will post it on SC2, and hopefully allow it to go big by then.
Cheers

are you going to disable UUS? it could seriously imbalance mutalisks or the like. as of right now, i'm more worried about the micro being too easy than anything. like the hellion micro, its just attack move. if it could be turned into patrol micro, and the hellion actually turns around if not told to keep going forward, that'd be cool.

Not gonna lie, the only reason I'd object to this is because it's going to be different.
This is one of the reasons Blizzard made the editor, though, to allow gamers to make things that people will love to play outside of the stock game. Sounds like good fun. And hey, if Blizzard did modify units to better match your ideas, then all the better, right?
And really, the Nexus lift has to be one of the most badass things ever.

Limiting stacking using the trigger editor is piece of cake, but that will be a last resort. Again I don't care about balancing, "this isn't Pro Mod". \
The hellion turning around thing is easy to do, I tried it, it looked stupid, I won't be implementing it.

The thing is is that any command that would cause the unit to start attacking with work. This includes Attack, Stop, Patrol, and Hold. Making it Patrol will not change anything, except handicap players by making them have to use P.
He isn't changing how the units react to input, just how the units behave. They all really just work like the Phoenix does now, except you have to tell it to attack instead of it doing it on it's own. It still requires proper positioning to be useful, because in order to attack they have to rotate, but they also glide a bit, so you can shoot will gliding as you decelerate, then speed right back up and run away.

To be honest, stacking made Mutalisks a bit weak when I threw down a bunch of Marines with 2 Medivacs (maybe I overdid it on the Marines...). The problem was that Marines have so much more range and attack a lot faster, so the Mutalisks will get shot (unless coming in from high ground) no matter what. However, the AI apparently isn't random in how it selects a target, and is VERY consistent. When I just a-moved into the force, the Mutalisks would all hit the same target each time. This decreased the amount of damage they were doing significantly because many Marines weren't getting hit. In situations like that, where there are numerous smaller units, stacking will probably hurt more than help.

Exactly, I'm also on the stacking isn't over powered wagon. I'm hoping insights like this will be proven by replays of the new mods. And maybe that will encourage blizz to implement it. Right now everyone is being really fickle about balance.

remember that counter-strike is a mod not a game made by valve.. so mods can become mainstream also.. this seems as a very good solution to the small problems some players have encountered with units such as the hellion and the tank...

Mods can become mainstream. They more than likely don't.
None of that matters though. This is going to be a fun mod regardless of mainstream or not.
I personally can't wait to FE Nexus rush.
